About the Job:

The IT Business Relationship Manager (BRM) for General & Administrative (G&A) functions at Foundation Medicine serves as the primary strategic liaison between Information Technology and business stakeholders across Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Facilities, and Corporate Affairs. This role is accountable for aligning technology solutions with business objectives, ensuring IT investments deliver measurable value, and enabling efficient, compliant, and scalable operations in a regulated life sciences environment. The BRM proactively engages senior leaders and functional teams to understand evolving priorities, translate business needs into technology strategies, and drive execution through a structured demand management and governance framework.

A core responsibility of the IT BRM is to build and sustain strong, trust-based relationships with stakeholders at all organizational levels. This includes facilitating regular engagement forums, advising on technology-enabled process improvements, and serving as a thought leader on emerging digital capabilities, ERP optimization, and data & analytics innovation. The BRM is expected to document, maintain, and continuously refine multi-year capability roadmaps for each G&A function, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards, regulatory requirements, and corporate strategic objectives.

The role also requires close partnership with delivery teams to prioritize initiatives, manage dependencies, and ensure successful implementation of solutions that enhance user experience, data integrity, and operational performance.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience supporting Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms (e.g., SAP) and enterprise data & analytics ecosystems, with a strong understanding of business processes across Finance, HR, Legal, and other G&A functions. They demonstrate the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-relevant insights and to influence decision-making through clear communication and data-driven recommendations. Success in this role requires a combination of strategic thinking, operational execution, and change leadership, as well as a proven track record of driving cross-functional collaboration, delivering technology-enabled transformation, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Thought Leadership:
    • Monitor emerging trends in enterprise technology (ERP modernization, digital HR, legal tech, AI enabled knowledge management, employee experience platforms)
    • Advise senior G&A and IT leaders on strategic opportunities, risks, and modernization pathways
    • Facilitate cross functional forums to align on G&A technology strategy and innovation priorities
    • Translate insights into actionable recommendations and investment proposals
  • Capability Roadmaps:
    • Develop multiyear capability roadmaps across all G&A functions including Corporate Management, People Team, Legal, and Corporate Affairs
    • Align roadmaps with enterprise strategy, regulatory requirements, and architectural standards
    • Prioritize investments using a transparent, valuebased framework
    • Maintain a living roadmap that guides annual planning, budgeting, and sequencing of initiatives
    • Ensure roadmaps reflect crossfunctional dependencies (e.g., HRFinance data flows, CommercialCompliance integrations)
  • Platform Ownership:
    • Serve as product owners for core G&A platforms (ERP/Finance systems, HCM suites, talent systems, contract lifecycle management, ediscovery, intranet/communications platforms)
    • Define platform vision, governance, and release strategy
    • Manage platform lifecycle, upgrades, integrations, and vendor relationships
    • Ensure platforms are secure, compliant, scalable, and optimized for user experience
    • Drive standardization, data governance, and interoperability across G&A systems
  • G&A Technology Operations:
    • Drive ITIL-base process excellence for the G&A technology portfolio
    • Manage G&A technology investments and costs in line with IT budget

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in IT, business relationship management, or business systems analysis supporting G&A functions (Finance, HR, Legal, Facilities, Corporate Affairs)
  • 5+ years of management experience
  • Hands-on experience with financial systems, including Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, etc), including configuration, process support, and enhancement delivery
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise data & analytics platforms, including data modeling, reporting tools (e.g., Power BI), and data governance concepts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA), Information Systems, or a related discipline
  • Experience in a life sciences, diagnostics, or biopharma organization supporting regulated G&A functions
  • Experience translating business needs into technology requirements and managing demand intake, prioritization, and delivery
  • Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., healthcare, life sciences, biotech) with an understanding of compliance considerations
  • Deep expertise in one or more ERP platforms (e.g., SAP S/4HANA) including transformation or implementation experience
  • Experience with advanced data & analytics capabilities, including data warehousing, master data management (MDM), and AI/ML-driven insights
  • Strong understanding of core G&A business processes (e.g., financial planning & analysis, accounting, procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, data privacy, e-Discovery, and HR lifecycle processes)
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and alignment of business capability models to technology roadmaps
  • Proven track record of delivering digital transformation initiatives across Finance, HR, or other G&A functions
  • Demonstrated experience developing, documenting, and maintaining multi-year capability roadmaps aligned to business strategy
  • Experience with portfolio management, governance frameworks, and financial management of IT investments
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity, privacy, and regulatory requirements impacting G&A systems (e.g., SOX, GDPR, HIPAA where applicable)
  • Experience defining, implementing, and complying with information security policies, procedures, and standards
  • Awareness of regulatory compliance (SOX, FDA) and role of systems in supporting compliance
  • Experience and strong knowledge of IT Service Management processes.
  • Proven ability to build, manage, and influence strong stakeholder relationships across executive and operational levels
  • Strong change management experience, including stakeholder adoption, training strategies, and organizational readiness
  • Strong leadership and change management history with demonstrated ability to gain trust and support from cross-functional peers and teams and effectively drive organizational change.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, PMP, CBAP, SAP/Oracle/Workday certifications, Certified Business Relationship Manager CBRM)
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action and ability to deal with rapidly changing environments
  • Understanding of HIPAA and importance of privacy of patient data

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Boston, MA is $201,620 - $237,200 per year. The salary range is commensurate with Foundation Medicines compensation practice and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for Foundation Medicines benefits.
