Job Description

Description: Background

Jewish Federation of San Diego is looking for a highly organized Program Coordinator to keep the programs that build Jewish leadership and belonging across our community running smoothly.

More information about Jewish San Diego is available on our website, www.jewishinsandiego.org. Federation staff are passionate about community building, highly collaborative and always learning. We bring a wide range of experiences and backgrounds to our work and welcome all applicants for this dynamic position.

Position Summary

The Program Coordinator, Leadership and Belonging provides administrative, logistical and program support for Federation's leadership development and community-building work, including leadership cohorts, belonging initiatives and micro-communities such as Mosaic and Kesher. This position handles the details that make programs run smoothly: scheduling, logistics, registration, communication, data and follow-up.

This is a flexible, team-first role. Assignments will shift with Federation's priorities, and a significant part of the work is supporting other programs, departments and organization-wide needs as assigned. Program strategy and design are led by the Senior Manager, Community Planning.

Candidates with deeper experience may be hired at the Program Manager level, with greater independence in running programs end to end.

Requirements: Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
  • Program Coordinator level: 1 to 3 years of experience in program coordination, event logistics or administrative support, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Program Manager level: 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience in program or project management, including running programs end to end.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and reliable follow-through.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; able to juggle multiple programs and deadlines at once.
  • Experience with Salesforce or a comparable CRM, and comfort keeping data clean and current.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word) and online registration tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a welcoming, service-minded presence.
  • Ability to work independently, ask good questions and adapt to changing priorities. Team-first attitude and comfort with a wide variety of tasks and shifting assignments.
  • Familiarity with Jewish life, customs and holidays is a plus.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and move about for extended periods during programs and events.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds (supplies, materials, signage).
  • Ability to travel locally to program sites; valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Availability for some evening and weekend work.
