Counter Server / Barista Lead [Full Time] in Woodstock, New York at Bread Alone Bakery

At Bread Alone, our cafés are lively spaces where community matters and good food brings people together. We’re looking for a dependable Counter Server / Barista Lead to support daily café operations and help maintain a consistent, high-quality guest experience. The Counter Server / Barista Lead’s primary goal is to uphold front-of-house standards and support service through strong example setting and day-to-day operational ownership. This role works alongside the team to ensure consistency in hospitality, beverage quality, and service flow.

• Support shift flow and help prioritize tasks during busy periods
• Maintain smooth, efficient, and guest-focused service across all FOH stations
• Step into an “in charge” role when leadership is not present, helping guide the team and maintain structure
• Ensure break schedules are followed and adjust as needed based on service flow
• Identify and communicate operational issues in real time
• Accurately count cash drawers at the beginning and/or end of shifts
• Reconcile daily sales and tip totals in accordance with company procedures
• Ensure tips are counted, recorded, and distributed properly
• Secure all cash appropriately and follow safe handling procedures at all times
• Maintain accuracy and integrity in all cash handling responsibilities
• Uphold all hospitality, cleanliness, and food safety standards
• Prepare and serve beverages to established quality standards
• Ensure the café space remains clean, organized, and welcoming
• Follow all POS procedures accurately and consistently
• Support proper stocking, pars, and product availability throughout the shift
• Provide guidance and support to team members by modeling best practices
• Maintain a calm, steady presence that sets the tone for the shift
• Communicate clearly with BOH and FOH teams to ensure a smooth guest experience
• Escalate concerns appropriately to supervisors or managers

• Experience with barista work and POS systems
• 2+ years of experience in a café, or restaurant preferred
• Strong comfort with cash handling and basic math
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable being active and on your feet for extended periods
• Able to tolerate exposure to high levels of heat and cold
• Ability to operate hot equipment and handle hot products safely
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work safely around equipment
• Commitment to maintaining excellent hygiene and food safety standards
• Willingness to follow all company policies, including GMP standards
• Hourly rate $20.00/hr
