Sew Lead Job Description
The Repair & Warranty Sewing Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day execution of sewing and repair operations within the Repair & Warranty Department. This role serves as the leader on the repair floor, ensuring daily goals, quality standards, educational development and service level agreements (SLAs) are consistently achieved.
The Sew Lead provides immediate support to both the Sewing Team by answering operational questions, resolving minor issues, coordinating workflow, and identifying production bottlenecks before they impact performance. When the Department Manager is unavailable, the sewing lead assumes responsibility for maintaining sewing and repair continuity and ensuring established priorities are executed.
This position is expected to lead by example, promote accountability, execute manager strategy, coach team members, and continuously improve repair efficiency while fostering a collaborative and professional work environment.
Daily Operations Leadership- Oversee the daily execution of Repair & Warranty repair operations.
- Coordinate with operations lead between Sewing, Shipping, and Intake to ensure work moves efficiently throughout the facility.
- Monitor production against daily goals and adjust priorities as needed.
- Serve as the first point of contact for routine repair questions and issue resolution.
- Ensure department priorities remain aligned with business objectives and customer commitments.
- Provide daily direction and support to the Shipping & Intake Team.
- Coach employees on quality, productivity, and standard operating procedures.
- Reinforce accountability through consistent communication and follow-up.
- Escalate personnel concerns, performance issues, or operational risks to the Department Manager when appropriate.
- Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative team culture.
- Train, develop, and coach less experienced sew techs to meet and exceed production goals.
- Build training programs and pipelines for sew teams to develop skillset.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
- Identify sewing development opportunities and track individual sewers progress.
- Take initiative to resolve workflow obstacles whenever possible.
- Recommend and implement process improvements that increase throughput, and improve quality.
- Assist with developing standardized work instructions and best practices.
- Monitor production quality throughout the repair process.
- Ensure repair quality standards are consistently maintained.
- Verify outgoing products meet customer and brand expectations.
- Support departmental compliance with all Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Assist with tracking production metrics and identifying trends affecting turnaround time.
- Oversee
- Ensure inventory movement is accurate and documented.
- Coordinate repair completion with outbound shipping schedules.
- Act as the communication bridge between the Department Manager and frontline sewing employees.
- Coordinate daily priorities across the operations team.
- Communicate operational updates, challenges, and resource needs promptly.
- Maintain effective communication with internal departments and brand partners as required.
The Sewing Lead is expected to:

- 4+ years of previous leadership or supervisory experience in manufacturing, repair operations.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to coach and motivate employees.
- Comfortable making decisions independently within established guidelines.
- Experience in apparel repair, industrial sewing, outdoor products, or warranty operations.
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
- Experience working with production metrics and KPIs.
