Pool Engineer
The Springs Resort | Pagosa Springs, CO
Schedule: Weekdays + Weekends; 4 - 10hr shifts optional.
Your mission (should you choose to accept it):
The Pool Engineer is a hands-on technical role responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the mechanical systems that support The Springs Resort’s geothermal pools, oxygenated pools, and water features. The Pool Engineer is a jack of all trades on the Pools team, doing what is necessary to fill gaps on Pool Grounds and Pool cleaning teams.
This position plays an important role in protecting the reliability, safety, and performance of our geothermal systems while supporting the guest experience at the heart of our purpose—caring for the enhanced wellbeing of all.
Where you can make an impact:
- Maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair pool and water-feature systems.
- Diagnose mechanical, plumbing, circulation, filtration, heating, valves, pumps, and control-system issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Monitor and support water chemistry, circulation, filtration, and temperature performance.
- Complete repairs and adjustments to pumps, filters, heaters, valves, piping, chemical feeders, controls, and related equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections of mechanical rooms, pool systems, and supporting infrastructure.
- Respond promptly to leaks, equipment failures, temperature issues, circulation problems, and other operational concerns.
- Support pool closures, reopening’s, emergency repairs, and corrective actions.
- Use Quore or similar maintenance systems to document work orders, inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and equipment records.
- Assist with system upgrades, installations, and pool-related improvement projects.
- Work closely with the Pools Manager, Assistant Pools Manager, Pool Engineering, Pool Grounds and Pool Cleaning teams.
- Safely handle chemicals, tools, equipment, and mechanical systems according to established procedures.
- Support compliance with applicable health, safety, environmental, and CDPHE requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, efficiency, safety, and reliability.
- Provide professional support when working around guests and public areas.

What sets you apart:
Education / Formal Training
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical or trade training in mechanical systems, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, or a related field preferred.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred.
Experience
- 2+ years of experience in pool maintenance, facilities engineering, plumbing, mechanical systems, or a related trade.
- Experience working with pumps, filtration, heating, circulation, plumbing, and control systems preferred.
- Resort, hotel, aquatic, or geothermal experience is a plus.
Knowledge / Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of pool equipment and water systems.
- Understanding of pool chemistry, water treatment, and safe chemical-handling practices.
- Ability to diagnose equipment problems and complete appropriate repairs.
- Strong preventive-maintenance mindset and attention to detail.
- Ability to read equipment manuals, gauges, controls, and technical documentation.
- Comfortable using digital maintenance systems such as Quore.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to prioritize urgent repairs while managing routine preventive maintenance.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with the broader Pools and Engineering teams.
- Strong communication skills and a professional approach.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as operational needs require.
- Ability to perform hands-on work in mechanical spaces and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
