Job Description

Personalized Nursing LIGHT House (PNLH) is seeking a qualified Certified Peer Recovery Coach to join our team. This position works under the direct supervision of the Site Director and provides recovery-oriented peer support services in accordance with training, certification, and organizational policy.

About PNLH

Personalized Nursing LIGHT House has provided specialized addiction treatment and recovery services for adults in Southeast Michigan for more than 30 years. We serve clients at our locations in Plymouth, Canton, and Madison Heights.

Our programs integrate substance use disorder treatment, mental health services, and primary care coordination into cohesive, client-centered care. All services are grounded in the LIGHT Model, which emphasizes dignity, compassion, accountability, and recovery.

Position Summary

The Certified Peer Recovery Coach provides non-clinical, recovery-focused peer support to clients using lived experience, professional training, and clear peer boundaries. This role supports client engagement, stability, and connection to recovery resources. The position also includes client transportation responsibilities as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide peer recovery support services within scope of training, certification, and PNLH policy

  • Support clients in completing My Plans and other recovery planning tools within peer scope

  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and transitions in care

  • Conduct apartment or housing monitor checks as assigned

  • Encourage relapse prevention efforts and provide outreach following relapse to promote re-engagement

  • Assist clients with access to transportation, housing, food, clothing, meetings, and community resources

  • Maintain supportive contact with alumni clients, including recovery milestone outreach

  • Demonstrate a caring, compassionate, and trauma-informed approach in all interactions

  • Apply the LIGHT Model in all client and team interactions

  • Transport clients to and from housing and program services using a company-provided vehicle, as applicable by site

Educational and Certification Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED

  • MCBAP Peer Recovery Coach Certification (Development Plan) through
    Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals

  • Minimum of two years in recovery, as required for peer certification

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications
  • CCAR Peer Recovery Coach training or certification

  • Training or experience in trauma-informed peer support

  • Experience working in substance use disorder treatment settings

  • Experience in residential, transitional housing, or outpatient programs

  • Familiarity with community recovery resources in Southeast Michigan

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, and Teams

  • Strong communication, documentation, and boundary-setting skills

Job Details
  • Job Type: Full-time or Part-time

  • Pay Rate: $18.00 to $19.00 per hour, Pay is based on experience and level of certification.
