Job Description
The Process Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving configuration processes and operational work instructions used in the provisioning and deployment of IoT devices. This role creates and manages device configuration workbooks, supports manufacturing and operations teams, and ensures quality standards are consistently met through process adherence, First Article Inspections (FAIs), audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This position works cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Customer Support teams to ensure accurate, scalable, and compliant device configuration processes.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Process Engineering & Device Configuration
• Develop, maintain, and optimize configuration workbooks, process documentation, and work instructions for IoT
device provisioning and deployment
• Translate technical product requirements into clear operational procedures and configuration workflows
• Support configuration activities including firmware loading, SIM provisioning, network setup, labeling, serialization,
and customer-specific programming requirements
• Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to implement new product introductions (NPI) and process
changes
• Identify opportunities to improve configuration efficiency, reduce errors, and streamline workflows
• Assist in troubleshooting device configuration issues and support root cause analysis activities
• Maintain process version control and ensure documentation accuracy across manufacturing and operations
environments
Quality & Compliance
• Ensure configuration workbooks and operational procedures are consistently followed by production and operations
teams
• Conduct process audits and monitor adherence to established quality standards and work instructions
• Support First Article Inspections (FAIs) for new products, configuration changes, or process updates
• Assist with internal, customer, and external audits by preparing documentation and supporting corrective actions
• Participate in CAPA, nonconformance investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Monitor quality metrics and support implementation of corrective and preventive actions
• Help maintain compliance with ISO, customer, and regulatory requirements where applicable
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Technical Support teams to ensure successful device
deployment and operational readiness
• Provide training and guidance on configuration processes and documentation updates
• Support scaling of configuration operations for new customers, products, and global deployments
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Supply Chain, or related field preferred
•2–5 years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, or technical operations
•Experience working with IoT devices, electronics manufacturing, or technical configuration environments preferred
•Knowledge of process documentation, work instructions, and manufacturing workflows
•Familiarity with quality systems, audits, and First Article Inspection (FAI) processes
•Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and organizational skills
•Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and process documentation tools
•Experience with ERP, MES, or quality management systems is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
•Experience supporting ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems
•Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
•Familiarity with cellular connectivity, firmware management, or embedded devices
•Experience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing or device provisioning environments
