Scope-Decontamination Technician in Lafayette, Louisiana at Acadiana Endoscopy Center Inc

JOB SUMMARY: Maintain the endoscopy equipment in the center in an optimum condition

JOB DUTIES:

• Clean and disinfect endoscopes and accessory items in a safe and effective manner
• Maintains the equipment in optimum working order
• Prepares accessories for sterilization in an appropriate manner
• Prepares records for utilization
• Becomes familiar with all center policies and procedures
• Updates knowledge needed to perform job duties by attending center inservices and other continuing education
• Maintains adequate supplies and equipment for the efficient operation of the center
• Attends and contributes to staff meetings and committee meetings
• Participates in the quality process of the center
• Performs other duties as needed for the patient, staff, or the center

PERSONNEL REQUIREMENTS

KNOWLEDGE:

• OSHA regulations
• Clean and sterile technique
• Structure and function of endoscopic equipment

SKILLS:

• Manual dexterity to set up, test, and operate endoscopic equipment and accessories

ABILITIES:

• Be able to communicate effectively by verbal and written means

EDUCATION:

• Orientation to the workings of the endoscopic equipment

SENSORY DEMANDS:

• Be able to hear and see the timing devices used in the cleaning and disinfecting room
