About the role
As Director of Product Development you will lead the India-based engineering teams through a critical transformation unifying Virtua's engineering practices with Q4 Platform standards to operate as a single global engineering organization.
You'll own day-to-day engineering operations in India, ensuring delivery against the global platform roadmap while driving SDLC alignment across geographies. Working closely with your NA counterpart in Product Development, you'll serve as the primary bridge ensuring both teams operate with the same principles, processes, and quality bar. This is a leader-of-leaders role where you coach and develop engineering managers while building the organizational muscle to move India teams from Virtua-specific work to full Q4 Platform contribution.
What you'll do
- Coaching, mentoring, and people development with an emphasis on developing technology leaders.
- Promote solid software development practices within the team. Ensure that the software development process aligns operationally with other global engineering teams.
- Bring visibility into and guide technical decision-making.
- Project portfolio management and capacity planning to ensure that teams maintain a balanced backlog of work that addresses technical debt, reduces operational friction, and designs for the future.
- Operational reporting on software product development efforts. Contribute to the continuous improvement of our SDLC processes.
- Drive the transition of India engineering teams from Virtua-centric workflows to Q4 Platform technologies, managing the change management and upskilling required.
- Partner with the NA Product Development to establish and maintain a unified SDLC across both geographies, same ceremonies, same definition of done, same quality gates.
- Own operational metrics for India engineering (velocity, cycle time, defect rates, deployment frequency) and ensure parity with NA benchmarks.
- Manage the balance between Virtua legacy maintenance and Q4 Platform roadmap contribution work with Product to plan the gradual shift of capacity toward Platform initiatives.
- Build a hiring and retention strategy for India engineering talent that supports the long-term global operations model.
- Facilitate cross-time zone collaboration patterns establish overlap windows, async communication norms, and escalation paths that work for both NA and India.
- Represent Q4 at external events with an emphasis on technology recruiting and brand building.
- Promote and inspire developer activities and tech culture to continue to make Q4 a great place to work.
Qualifications
- 8+ years in software development, with at least 5 in engineering leadership managing multiple teams.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams through a platform migration
- Track record of implementing and scaling SDLC practices across distributed teams experience with globally distributed engineering is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing both legacy product maintenance and new platform development simultaneously.
- Deep understanding of agile at scale
- Strong operational mindset comfortable with engineering metrics, capacity planning, and data-driven decision making.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across time zones and cultural contexts.
