Job Description
MasterMold is looking for driven, hands-on leaders to join our Johnson Creek Paint Department as Paint Supervisors.
For this position, leadership matters. Previous manufacturing or paint experience is valuable, but we are also interested in candidates who demonstrate strong leadership ability, initiative, accountability, and a genuine willingness to learn.
You do not need to know every aspect of our paint operation on day one. We can teach processes and systems. We are looking for individuals who naturally engage with their team, recognize when something needs attention, take ownership, and follow through.
This is an active production-floor leadership position. You will be responsible for leading employees throughout your shift, maintaining production priorities, supporting quality and safety expectations, addressing employee concerns, and helping your team succeed.
What You'll DoAs a Paint Supervisor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and execution of your assigned shift. Responsibilities include:
- Lead and oversee Paint Leads, Material Handlers, and Production Operators during the assigned shift.
- Execute daily production schedules and communicate priorities to the team.
- Assign employees and resources based on production needs.
- Monitor production throughout the shift and adjust priorities as conditions change.
- Ensure employees understand their assignments, expectations, and production goals.
- Maintain consistent communication with Paint leadership regarding production status, staffing, quality concerns, downtime, and other significant issues.
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Safety, Human Resources, and other departments to resolve issues affecting production.
- Identify problems on the production floor and take appropriate action rather than allowing issues to continue or escalate.
- Ensure employees follow established processes, work instructions, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Monitor part quality and respond promptly when defects or process concerns are identified.
- Coach, train, and develop employees and Paint Leads.
- Provide clear expectations and hold employees accountable for performance and workplace conduct.
- Address employee performance or behavior concerns promptly and partner with Human Resources when additional coaching or corrective action is appropriate.
- Ensure employee issues, coaching discussions, and other required documentation are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support training and development of new and existing employees.
- Maintain strong 6S, safety, and housekeeping practices throughout the department.
- Identify and communicate safety concerns and support timely completion of SEWOs.
- Assist with material flow, inventory, work-in-process, and production needs.
- Support World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Promote teamwork and communication between shifts and departments.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has the drive and initiative to take ownership of their shift.
- Is comfortable leading people and providing clear direction.
- Notices problems and is willing to engage rather than waiting for someone else to address them.
- Can respectfully hold employees accountable.
- Is willing to learn manufacturing and paint processes.
- Can make decisions and adjust priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
- Communicates effectively with employees, leadership, and other departments.
- Can coach employees and handle difficult conversations professionally.
- Understands that being a supervisor means supporting the team while also enforcing expectations.
- Is organized and follows through on commitments.
- Can remain professional and solution-focused when challenges arise.
- Has a continuous-improvement mindset.
- Is willing to spend the majority of the shift actively engaged on the production floor.
Previous supervisory, manufacturing, production, or industrial experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with demonstrated leadership ability and the drive to learn will be considered.
Leadership ExpectationsA successful Paint Supervisor does more than assign work.
We are looking for someone who is present on the floor, understands what is happening during the shift, communicates with employees, asks questions, addresses problems, and follows through.
The Supervisor should create an environment where employees understand what is expected of them and feel comfortable raising concerns, while maintaining appropriate accountability for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, conduct, and following established procedures.
ScheduleWe are currently considering candidates for both 1st and 2nd shift at our Johnson Creek facility.
Because this position directly supports production operations, flexibility may occasionally be required based on staffing, training, production demands, or other business needs.
What Success Looks LikeSuccess in this position means taking ownership of your shift.
You will be expected to know your production priorities, understand where your people are assigned, recognize when the operation is falling behind or experiencing problems, and take action to get the team back on track.
You will also be responsible for developing your employees and Leads—not simply directing them. The goal is to build a team that operates safely, produces quality work, communicates effectively, and consistently meets expectations.
You don't have to walk in knowing everything about our paint process. You do need to walk in ready to lead, learn, engage, and take ownership.
