American GI Forum - National Veterans Outreach Program is a nonprofit organization. Our mission is to establish and maintain a comprehensive community service agency with a diversified funding source serving the needs of Veterans, their families, and other individuals of the community who are in need. Our goal is to establish innovative programs of service for contemporary needs, through an expansion and growth policy that will seek complimentary services that will generate self-sustaining mechanisms for the organization.
SUMMARY
The Housekeeper/Cleaner will clean, sanitize, and maintain private residences and commercial buildings.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Performs general cleaning and sanitizing tasks and services throughout assigned property.
- Uses cleaning cart to transport cleaning supplies.
- Cleans and disinfects bathrooms.
- Cleans and disinfects kitchen and dining areas.
- Washes dishes, utensils, glasses, pots, and pans.
- Wipes and dusts surface in rooms and cleans mirrors.
- Vacuums and cleans floors, rugs, furniture, and drapes.
- Removes linens, towels, bedspreads, and blankets.
- Places and neatly tucks clean sheets and blankets on beds and replaces pillowcases.
- Stocks towels, washcloths, and hand towels in bathrooms.
- Picks up and empties trash containers.
- Loads washers and dryers and folds sheets and towels in laundry room as needed.
- Notifies maintenance if something is not working properly.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- At least one year of experience in housekeeping
- Must have access to reliable transportation
- Must always have a current Texas driver’s license
- Must always have applicable automobile liability insurance
- All personnel of the organization must be bondable
- Must pass drug testing and background check
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Detail-oriented and thorough.
- Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of residents, tenants, and/or guests.
- Sufficient ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English to complete work efficiently, effectively, and courteously.
TRAVEL
Primarily local during business day although some out-of-area travel may be expected via airline or automobile based on the discretion of management.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employee may be exposed to varying weather conditions. Employee will also be required to work in an office with a range of veteran clients and/or family members. Employee must be able to handle dissatisfied client(s) and in a professional manner refer to one of the Clinicians. Employee may assist to recruit clients in the traditional work environment such as job fairs and networking at community events.
