Position Summary
The Security Supervisor supports the Security Manager in overseeing daily safety, security, and loss-prevention operations at a high-volume, luxury hotel in a dynamic urban environment. This role ensures the protection of guests, associates, vendors, and hotel assets while upholding Westin brand standards, Marriott policies, and all applicable laws.
The Security Supervisor provides on-shift leadership to the Security team, responds to incidents, assists with investigations, and plays a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Security Operations
- Supervise daily security operations across public areas, back-of-house, guest floors, loading docks, and parking areas.
- Enforce hotel safety and security policies, procedures, and post orders consistently.
- Conduct routine patrols and inspections to identify hazards, risks, or policy violations.
- Monitor CCTV, access control systems, and alarm panels to ensure the safety of guests and associates.
- Support loss-prevention efforts by maintaining vigilance and reporting suspicious activity.
Incident Response & Investigations
- Respond promptly and professionally to incidents involving guests, associates, or property.
- Assist the Security Manager with investigations related to theft, safety incidents, workplace violence, harassment, or other security matters.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and objective documentation of incidents, including reports, statements, and evidence handling.
- Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire department, and emergency responders when required.
Emergency Preparedness & Compliance
- Support the execution of emergency response plans, including fire, medical, weather, evacuation, and active-threat protocols.
- Assist with emergency drills, life-safety training, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA, life safety, fire code, and brand safety standards.
- Participate in safety inspections, brand audits, and risk assessments.
Team Leadership & Scheduling
- Provide on-shift leadership, coaching, and direction to Security Officers.
- Conduct shift briefings, assign duties, and ensure adequate coverage based on business needs.
- Support scheduling, timekeeping, and staffing coordination in partnership with the Security Manager.
- Maintain positive working relationships with union representatives when applicable and ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
Loss Prevention & Risk Management
- Assist in implementing loss-prevention strategies to reduce shrinkage, theft, and property damage.
- Track and report trends related to incidents, injuries, and losses.
- Support Workers’ Compensation investigations and follow-up in coordination with HR.
- Participate in hotel-wide safety committees and risk-mitigation initiatives.
Training & Awareness
- Train Security Officers on SOPs, emergency procedures, de-escalation techniques, and guest-service expectations.
- Support ongoing safety awareness training for hotel associates.
- Promote a culture of professionalism, vigilance, and service excellence.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, HR, and Food & Beverage to support smooth operations.
- Provide security support for VIP arrivals, group events, employee functions, and special hotel activities.
- Assist with corporate initiatives, audits, and policy rollouts.
In accordance with Illinois law, the compensation and benefits for this position are as follows:
Pay Range:
$29.05 per hour
Compensation within this range will be determined based on relevant experience, skills, and job-related factors consistent with applicable law.

This position is subject to the Chicago Fair Workweek Ordinance.
Upon hire, employees will receive a written good faith estimate of their work schedule, including:
· Expected average weekly hours

Work schedules are provided in advance in accordance with the ordinance. Scheduling may vary based on business needs, including occupancy levels, events, and seasonal demand.

Requirements:Qualifications
- 2–3 years of security or loss-prevention experience; hospitality or large public-venue experience preferred.
- Prior supervisory or lead-officer experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, emergency response, and incident-investigation practices.
- Strong communication, judgment, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure situations.
- Familiarity with CCTV, access control systems, and incident-reporting platforms.
- CPR, First Aid, and emergency-response certifications preferred (or ability to obtain).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies throughout the property.
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call needs.
