Monday - Friday, 8:30AM -12:15PM
This position follows the Huntington School District calendar.
SUMMARY
Family Service League is seeking a part-time Pre-School Teacher for our Early Learning Center in Huntington, NY. The Teacher will provide three-year-old students with a solid curriculum-based program that provides them with the educational, social and emotional components necessary to be prepared for Pre-kindergarten.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Pre-School Teacher will supplement curriculum with developmentally appropriate materials, lessons and activities.
- Provide supervision of Teacher's Aide and collaborate with center's Program Director.
- Utilize positive classroom management techniques to guide children's behavior.
- The Pre-School Teacher will provide a structured daily routine.
- When needed, create and utilize individual behavioral management plans and include parents in the plan.
- Conduct assessments of every student.
- The Pre-School Teacher will create and maintain a clean, safe and positive classroom environment, with varied and appropriate materials available to students.
- Demonstrate and facilitate appropriate conflict resolution, model kindness and empathy toward others.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors’ Degree in Elementary Education, or High School Diploma plus Early Childhood Training and a minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching children in the pre-kindergarten age group required.
Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, required
Strong interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.
Possess strong knowledge of developmentally age-appropriate language and activities.
Demonstrate patience, optimism, compassion, enthusiasm, and empathy.
Effective mediation skills for resolving conflicts between children.
Ability to be a positive role model for children and team members.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical activities require considerable use of arms and legs and moving of the whole body, such as bending, pushing, pulling, walking, stooping, and handling of various types of materials. Heavy lifting may be required. May need to lift up to 25 lbs.
