Cloud Database Administrator III

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cloud Database Administrator III based in the United States.

This role sits within a high-impact healthcare technology environment focused on powering secure, scalable data systems that support millions of critical transactions every day.
You will be responsible for designing and maintaining cloud-native database architectures that ensure performance, availability, and regulatory compliance.
The position plays a key role in safeguarding sensitive healthcare data while optimizing large-scale systems across modern cloud platforms.
You will work closely with engineering, infrastructure, and compliance teams to build resilient and secure database solutions.

Accountabilities:
  • Design, implement, and manage secure and highly available cloud database systems across AWS and other cloud environments.
  • Administer large-scale PostgreSQL and MySQL environments, with exposure to Oracle and MS SQL Server systems.
  • Ensure database performance optimization, monitoring, troubleshooting, and capacity planning across production workloads.
  • Implement backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies to ensure business continuity.
  • Enforce database security standards and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, HITECH, and PCI DSS.
  • Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and compliance teams to support application and infrastructure needs.
  • Develop automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code solutions using tools such as Python, Terraform, and AWS services.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in database administration supporting production environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL; Oracle and SQL Server experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in AWS, including managing RDS and Aurora at scale in production systems.
  • Strong SQL expertise; NoSQL experience is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of database security, encryption, and regulatory compliance frameworks (HIPAA, HITECH, PCI DSS).
  • Experience with scripting and automation (Python, Terraform, and AWS Lambda is a plus).
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills in cross-functional environments.
  • AWS Certified Database – Specialty or equivalent certifications are highly valued.
