Description:

Available positions are on our swing shift, working Monday through Thursday, 3:25 p.m. to 1:55 a.m. Position is eligible for 7.5% shift differential on base rate.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Level 1

  • Perform setup of part marking equipment using written instructions from work order.
  • Apply part identification to details and assemblies using stencils, rubber stamps, inkjet, and tags.
  • Verify part counts against work order.
  • Make bags using roll tubing, cutters, and bag sealers.
  • Place parts in bags according to written instructions.
  • Meet Orion safety and quality system requirements.
  • Maintain 6S and Lean manufacturing best practices.
  • Process work within performance and delivery requirements:
  • Meet established productivity standards.
  • Follow communicated job priority instructions.
  • Communicate production delays and problems to appropriate supervision.
  • Utilize ERP system to document work movement and completion transactions.
  • Teamwork:
  • Support all members of the manufacturing and Orion team fully to achieve company, departmental, and personal goals, and objectives.
  • Participate in team and company meetings.
  • Role model proper work ethics, behaviors, proper hygiene, and dress.
  • Keep work area clean and clear of obstructions.

Level 2 - Accomplishes all duties and responsibilities of level 1 plus:

  • Instruct and mentor Program Participants.
  • Ability to visually identify defects in workmanship regarding finishes, physical damage, and part identification.
  • Application of Skydrol resistant overcoats.
  • Determine packaging requirements using work instructions and work order.
  • Ability to identify correct marking method and/or materials for incoming jobs.
  • Sorting of incoming work to appropriate queue.
  • Acquire shop stamp.

Level 3 – Accomplishes all duties and responsibilities of level 1 and 2 plus:

  • Ability to setup and operate Etch-O-Matic.
  • Acquire Delegation stamp.
  • Application of Brady labels.
  • Maintains inspection authority to buy off part identification operation on work orders.
  • Participates in safety and quality investigations and recommends corrective action.
  • Maintains inventory and shelf life of supplies by periodic inventory counts and completes purchase requisitions to meet demand.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

Level 1

  • Manufacturing experience utilizing Part-Mark machines and processes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Organizational ability.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collectively.
  • Customer service skills; able to relate well to all internal customers.

Level 2 – All qualifications of level 1 plus:

  • Two years of relevant Part-Mark experience.
  • Ability to set-up and complete difficult jobs.
  • Achieve mentor certification.
  • Ability to provide on-the-job training or mentoring.

Level 3 – All qualifications of level 2 plus:

  • Three years of relevant manufacturing experience including specific experience on assigned equipment and processes.
  • Experience providing on-the-job training or mentoring.
  • Experience developing shop aids, tooling, and production processes.
  • Provide process improvement input.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain Part-Mark machines.

  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to reach, manipulate, handle, and hold material.

  • Frequent use of speaking ability to express or exchange ideas, communicate detailed information, or convey instructions.
  • Frequent lifting of 5 or 10 pounds, with occasional lifting to 35 pounds.
  • Consistent exposure to manufacturing shop floor, requiring use of Safety Glasses.
  • Occasional exposure to excess noise levels, necessitating the use of Hearing Protection.
