Position Description
Engineered Cooling Services (ECS) is seeking a highly motivated, hands-on Controller to lead the company's accounting operations and financial reporting. The Controller is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Company's financial records, maintaining strong internal controls, managing the monthly close process, and providing accurate financial information to support executive decision-making. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and oversees all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, job cost accounting, revenue recognition, treasury support, tax compliance, financial reporting, and audit coordination.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

General Accounting and Financial:
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
- Prepare timely and accurate GAAP-compliant financial statements.
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and adjusting entries.
- Analyze monthly financial results.
- Ensure accurate consolidation of all ECS entities.
- Manage the general ledger and chart of accounts.
- Supervise fixed asset accounting and depreciation.
- Ensure proper accounting for leases, insurance recoveries, and capital expenditures.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Develop, document, and enforce accounting policies and procedures.
- Strengthen internal controls across accounting and finance.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Coordinate annual financial statement audits.
- Support tax filings with external CPA firms.
- Assist with sales tax, payroll tax, and other regulatory reporting.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Support the annual budgeting process.
- Assist department leaders with financial planning.
- Prepare forecasts and cash flow projections.
- Analyze trends impacting profitability and operating performance.
Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
- Establish department goals and performance expectations.
- Review work for accuracy and completeness.

The following qualifications along with individuals’ previous work experience will be considered by the company when evaluating applicants:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Minimum 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of internal controls.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., Microsoft GP, Wennsoft, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- High integrity and ethical standards
Preferred:
- CPA certification
- Experience in industries such as commercial HVAC, construction, manufacturing, or field services.
- Familiarity with project-based accounting or job costing is a plus.
- Experience with Power BI financial reporting
