Integration Developer- Apache/Kafka stack in Canada Creek, Nova Scotia at Jobgether

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Integration Developer – Apache/Kafka Stack based in Canada.

As an Integration Developer, you will design and deliver enterprise integration solutions that connect applications, platforms, and data sources across a complex technology environment. You’ll work hands-on with Apache Camel, Apache Kafka, Red Hat integration technologies, and containerized platforms. The role combines API development, event-driven architecture, messaging, data transformation, and integration automation. You’ll collaborate closely with Architecture, DevOps, and application development teams to build secure, scalable, and reliable solutions. Your work will support data exchange, process automation, and interoperability across critical enterprise systems. This is a fully remote contract opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving complex integration challenges in a collaborative technical environment.

• Design and implement enterprise integration solutions using Apache Camel, including Camel K, Camel Quarkus, or Camel Spring Boot, applying established Enterprise Integration Patterns.

• Develop and manage Apache Kafka event-streaming solutions, including topic design, producers and consumers, stream processing, and schema management with Apicurio Registry.

• Design, develop, and expose APIs using Red Hat 3scale API Management and established API standards.

• Deploy, configure, and support integrations on Red Hat OpenShift, including Red Hat AMQ Streams and messaging platforms.

• Integrate enterprise applications and services using REST APIs, SOAP services, databases, AMQ Broker/ActiveMQ Artemis, and SaaS platforms.

• Build and maintain automated testing, integration validation, and CI/CD processes using OpenShift Pipelines (Tekton), Jenkins, and Git-based workflows.

• Monitor integration health, performance, and reliability using Prometheus, Grafana, Hawtio, and related observability tools.

• Perform data transformation and mapping across JSON, XML, Avro, and XSLT formats.

• Collaborate with Architecture, DevOps, and development teams to ensure integration solutions meet enterprise standards, security requirements, and operational objectives.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, technical documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Contribute to the reliability, scalability, and maintainability of integration platforms through proactive troubleshooting and optimization.

• At least 3 years of professional experience in Integration Development, Middleware Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Hands-on experience developing integration solutions with Apache Camel, including Camel K, Camel Quarkus, or Spring Boot implementations.

• Strong knowledge of Apache Kafka, including producers, consumers, event streaming, Kafka Streams, and schema-based messaging.

• Experience with Red Hat integration technologies such as AMQ Streams, Red Hat Fuse, or Camel-based solutions deployed on OpenShift.

• Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin; experience with Python is an asset.

• Strong experience designing and consuming REST and SOAP web services, including familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.

• Solid understanding of integration and messaging formats, including JSON, XML, and Avro.

• Experience deploying and supporting containerized workloads using Red Hat OpenShift and/or Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with Git-based development workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a structured approach to diagnosing technical issues.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across architecture, development, DevOps, and other technical teams.

• Current Government of Canada Secret security clearance or higher is required at the time of application.

• Fully remote position within Canada.

• Contract duration from October 6, 2026, to May 30, 2027.

• Hourly compensation of CAD $75–$100.
