Job Description

Data Scientist (Onsite | Rockville, MD | Public Trust Required)

The Data Scientist serves as a key technical contributor responsible for transforming complex data into actionable insights that support mission objectives, operational effectiveness, and strategic decision-making. This position requires an active or attainable Public Trust clearance and is performed onsite in Rockville, Maryland. The selected candidate will work with large-scale structured and unstructured datasets, leveraging advanced analytics, statistical modeling, automation, and visualization techniques to solve complex business and operational challenges within a federal government environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect, aggregate, validate, and analyze data from multiple primary and secondary sources to support organizational objectives, operational performance, and strategic initiatives.
  • Design, develop, and maintain data models, analytical frameworks, and reporting solutions that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and opportunities within large and complex datasets and translate findings into meaningful business insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Clean, transform, normalize, and restructure data from disparate systems to improve data quality, consistency, integrity, and usability.
  • Develop automated data collection, processing, and validation solutions to increase efficiency, reduce manual effort, and improve data accuracy.
  • Build and maintain dashboards, scorecards, reports, and interactive visualization tools that effectively communicate analytical findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Utilize statistical analysis, machine learning techniques, predictive modeling, and data mining methodologies to address business and operational challenges.
  • Develop and implement processes for monitoring data quality, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring ongoing accuracy and reliability of enterprise data assets.
  • Manage and maintain databases, data repositories, and information systems supporting the storage, retrieval, maintenance, protection, and recovery of critical organizational data.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, business units, technical teams, and leadership to gather requirements, identify information needs, and formulate analytical approaches that support mission objectives.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover meaningful relationships and support evidence-based recommendations for process improvements and operational enhancements.
  • Design and develop reusable tools, scripts, and analytical solutions to streamline data management, reporting, and business intelligence activities.
  • Work with both structured and unstructured datasets originating from enterprise systems, cloud environments, operational databases, APIs, and external data sources.
  • Support enterprise reporting initiatives through the development of automated reporting processes, data pipelines, and visualization platforms.
  • Evaluate existing data architectures and recommend improvements to optimize performance, accessibility, scalability, and security.
  • Partner with information technology, cybersecurity, and business stakeholders to ensure data governance, compliance, and protection requirements are consistently met.
  • Prepare executive-level presentations, briefings, and analytical reports that clearly communicate findings, trends, forecasts, risks, and recommendations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance business processes, operational efficiencies, and organizational performance through data analytics.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, Analytics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience performing data analysis, data science, business intelligence, or advanced analytics in a government, healthcare, research, or enterprise environment.
  • Experience collecting, processing, analyzing, and interpreting large and complex datasets.
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis, data visualization, and reporting methodologies.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, or similar analytical tools.
  • Experience developing dashboards, reports, and visualizations using platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or equivalent tools.
  • Strong understanding of database concepts, data modeling, data management, and data warehousing principles.
  • Experience creating automated data collection, transformation, and reporting solutions.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Must be able to work onsite in Rockville, MD.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting federal government agencies or highly regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of machine learning, predictive analytics, artificial intelligence, and advanced statistical modeling techniques.
  • Experience working with cloud-based analytics platforms and large-scale data environments.
  • Familiarity with data governance, cybersecurity, privacy, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with ETL development, data integration, and business intelligence architectures.
  • Professional certifications related to data analytics, cloud technologies, business intelligence, or data science.
