Vice President, Managing Director - Stock Plan Services

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Vice President, Managing Director - Stock Plan Services based in the United States.

This senior leadership role is responsible for managing strategic relationships with institutional equity compensation clients and driving long-term client success.
You will oversee a portfolio of major clients, strengthen executive-level partnerships, and ensure consistently high service delivery.
The position combines relationship management, commercial strategy, operational effectiveness, and financial performance.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to improve client satisfaction, expand relationships, and identify opportunities for growth.
The role also provides strategic guidance on equity compensation, employee benefits, and complex corporate transactions.
Success requires strong executive presence, industry expertise, consultative leadership, and the ability to influence stakeholders across a matrixed organization.
This is an opportunity to play a central role in the continued growth and development of a large-scale stock plan services business.

Accountabilities:
  • Own overall relationships and strategic outcomes for a portfolio of institutional equity compensation plan clients, with accountability for retention, loyalty, satisfaction, and relationship growth.
  • Monitor client satisfaction and lead the timely resolution of issues, ensuring solutions meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Evaluate revenue, expense, and profitability metrics and implement proactive strategies to strengthen the financial performance of assigned relationships.
  • Develop and negotiate contract renewals, including proactive negotiations and formal rebid processes, in collaboration with internal business partners.
  • Partner with internal teams to develop programs that increase participant engagement, household relationships, conversions, education, and communication.
  • Conduct formal client plan reviews, identifying evolving needs, service enhancements, and opportunities to strengthen the overall client experience.
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of equity compensation plans to provide consultative guidance and help clients adopt industry-leading practices.
  • Support clients through complex corporate actions, including mergers, acquisitions, stock splits, divestitures, and spin-offs.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across HR, Total Rewards, Compensation, Treasury, Legal, Procurement, and other client functions.
  • Provide leadership, motivation, and support to client service teams, ensuring alignment between client objectives and organizational priorities.
  • Identify relationship risks and develop mitigation strategies while proactively anticipating client concerns and business needs.
  • Drive adoption of relevant products and services through value-based cross-selling and strategic positioning.
  • Operate effectively within a matrixed environment, building credibility and influencing stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • 10+ years of relationship management or client service experience, preferably within equity compensation, retirement, 401(k), employee benefits, or related financial services environments.
  • Ability to obtain Series 7 and Series 63/65 licenses within the first three months of employment.
  • Strong understanding of equity compensation plans, executive compensation, employee benefits, and financial services.
  • Established credibility within the equity compensation industry; Certified Equity Professional (CEP) designation is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic employee benefit solutions for large corporate clients and translate complex business needs into practical recommendations.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, consulting, project management, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Proven leadership capabilities and the ability to motivate and support client-facing teams through a servant-leadership approach.
  • Strong executive presence and the ability to establish trusted relationships with senior decision-makers both internally and externally.
  • Experience working successfully within a matrix management structure and collaborating across multiple business functions.
  • Exceptional customer focus, responsiveness, urgency, and adaptability in a changing business environment.
  • Excellent organization, time management, attention to detail, and ability to balance multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • High emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and a demonstrated commitment to continuous personal and professional development.
  • Willingness to collaborate closely with teammates and take a hands-on approach when needed.
  • Position is remote within eligible Midwest U.S. and Southeast locations.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work without immigration sponsorship.

  • Base salary range of $118,000–$226,000 USD per year, with placement determined by responsibilities, geographic location, experience, and other relevant factors.
