Job Description

Description:

Title: Group Facilitator

Reports To: Clinical Supervisor

Salary Range: $55k-$59k DOE

Employment Type: Full-Time Salaried-Non-Exempt

About us:

Founded in 2000 as a winter-only, overnight shelter for women, The Delores Project has grown to offer low-barrier, housing-focused 24-7 shelter for unaccompanied adult women, transgender and nonbinary people, supportive housing for formerly chronically homeless individuals with a disability, and a robust suite of wrap-around services including on-site behavioral healthcare. The organization also provides community-based aftercare services for clients who have transitioned from homelessness to housing.

At The Delores Project, we believe community and belonging are essential to healing from the trauma of homelessness and this is one way we differentiate ourselves from many other homeless service providers. In addition to a shelter, we are a community that not only meets people’s basic needs and provides access to housing resources, but we also provide clients with a supportive community in a fully therapeutic environment so they can begin to heal from the trauma of homelessness and are more successful in maintaining housing and stability once they graduate from our programs. We are client-centered and strengths-based in our approach and practice of harm-reduction and trauma-informed models of care in all our programs. Our engagement with one another is rooted in our values of hospitality, integrity, collaboration, transparency, accountability, respect, and dignity for each community member, including staff and volunteers. Those who share these values, are passionate about working with people in crisis, and ending homelessness may be a great addition to our diverse and talented team.

Job Description:

The Group Facilitator is responsible for developing and facilitating engaging, accessible, and meaningful programming for shelter guests, supportive housing residents, and continued care residents. As a member of the Behavioral Health and Wellness team, the Group Facilitator creates opportunities for participants to connect with one another, develop practical skills, explore interests, build confidence, and strengthen support networks and overall wellbeing.

This position has a particular focus on group programming, workshops, classes, and community-building activities that support participants' goals, interests, and growth. Programming may include both hard and soft skills, ranging from practical life skills and employment readiness to communication, relationship-building, self-advocacy, wellness, creative activities, and personal development.

The Group Facilitator works closely with the Clinical Supervisor, Community Engagement Manager, and the Operations and Programs teams to identify participant needs and interests in order to develop programming that is responsive to those needs.

The Group Facilitator also provides trauma-informed crisis intervention and support to shelter guests and supportive housing residents when needs arise during programming or other interactions. The Group Facilitator uses de-escalation, active listening, grounding, harm-reduction, and other appropriate crisis-support strategies; recognizes when additional support is needed; and coordinates with the Clinical Supervisor and other appropriate TDP staff.

The Group Facilitator does not carry an individual client caseload and is not responsible for providing individual case management or counseling. The position instead supports participants primarily through groups, workshops, classes, activities, community engagement, and short-term crisis intervention and support, while connecting individuals to appropriate TDP staff or community resources when needs fall outside the scope of the role.

The Group Facilitator will also support TDP's broader community by assisting with holidays, celebrations, special events, field trips, and other activities that contribute to a welcoming and connected environment.

For employees pursuing clinical licensure, eligible clinical group facilitation hours may be available to count toward required supervised clinical experience, in accordance with applicable licensure requirements and TDP supervision practices.
