SUMMARY: The Business Development Executive is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities within the transportation and logistics industry. This is a business development-focused role centered on prospecting, relationship building, and closing new customer accounts.
The ideal candidate for the Business Development Executive position a proven strong sales professional with experience specific to transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, or 3PL.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Identify, prospect, and secure new customer accounts
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of qualified opportunities through outbound prospecting, networking, referrals, and other business development activities
- Build relationships with transportation, logistics, procurement, and supply chain decision-makers
- Understand customer transportation requirements and present appropriate asset-based transportation and logistics solutions
- Prepare proposals, negotiate pricing, and secure service agreements
- Consistently achieve or exceed established sales objectives and performance goals
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, opportunities, and customer interactions within CRM systems
- Collaborate with operations and customer support teams to facilitate successful customer onboarding
- Represent the company professionally in all customer interactions
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Proven experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, supply chain sales, or a related business development role
- Demonstrated success in prospecting, pipeline development, and closing new business opportunities
- Strong phone, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building abilities
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and maintain a results-oriented approach
- Proficiency with CRM systems and standard business software applications
Preferred
- Experience selling transportation, truckload, dedicated, brokerage, or logistics services
- Existing professional relationships within transportation, logistics, manufacturing, distribution, retail, or related industries
- Knowledge of transportation markets, pricing, and supply chain operations
WORK AUTHORIZATION & LOCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- This position requires full-time, on-site presence at our Wilmington, NC offices (28403).
- Work hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
- Some travel may be required as part of client relationship building, not to exceed 10% of the time.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application.
