POSITION SUMMARY

The Dining Room Host is the first point of contact for residents and guests entering the dining area and plays a key role in creating a welcoming, organized, and pleasant dining experience. This position is responsible for greeting residents, managing seating arrangements, assisting with reservations, and supporting overall dining room operations to ensure a smooth mealtime service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet residents and guests warmly and professionally upon arrival.
  • Manage the seating chart and coordinate table assignments to optimize service.
  • Communicate effectively with servers and kitchen staff regarding seating flow.
  • Assist residents with special seating requests or accommodations as needed.
  • Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the dining room entrance and host station.
  • Answer resident questions about meal service and relay concerns or feedback to supervisors.
  • Assist with organizing seating for special events or large groups.
  • Provide support to the dining team during peak times, including assisting with resetting tables and performing light service tasks.
  • Uphold the community’s standards for hospitality, dignity, and resident satisfaction.
Requirements:

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

Education and certificates:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
  • A Food Handler Card, along with an understanding of kitchen sanitation and food codes, is a plus.

Experience, Competencies, and Skills:

  • Prior customer service or hospitality experience preferred, ideally in a dining or senior living setting.
  • Warm, friendly demeanor with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to stay organized and calm in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable engaging with older adults and accommodating various needs with patience and professionalism.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and occasionally assist with light lifting.
