Reports to: Paint Supervisor
Status: Non-Exempt
Compensation: $17.00
Shift: Monday - Thursday, Four 10-hour shifts per week (40 hours total), 5:30 am - 4:15pm

Summary: The Industrial Sandblaster is responsible for preparing surfaces by removing contaminants such as rust, paint, and debris using sandblasting or abrasive blasting techniques. This role ensures that surfaces are properly prepped for further processing, coating, or painting, and requires a strong attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and efficient operation of sandblasting equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect surfaces before and after sandblasting to ensure proper preparation and adherence to quality standards. Identify and address any areas that require additional attention.
- Operate in a fully enclosed blast booth
- Prepare surfaces for painting by remove dirt, paint, grease, and other materials from metal surfaces.
- Mask surfaces needing protection as needed.
- Loading parts onto hanger carts and unload as needed.
- Float and assist other team members in prep or non-skid area.
- Sand, mask, blend, and polish finish to match surrounding areas. Using a brush, apply or retouch paint as necessary
- Shoveling or pouring sand, grit, or other abrasive material into machine.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of sandblasting equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to supervisor.
- Must know, understand and follow all proper OSHA & Company safety protocols.
- Must wear and maintain all appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
- Sandblasters must maintain work area and sandblasting equipment clean to avoid any safety violation or cause any injury to themselves or others.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
- Must pass respirator fit test and training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Automotive or trade school certificate is a plus
- Experience operating sandblast equipment.
- Experience with mechanical repairs, maintenance of sandblast equipment
- Strong attention to detail to ensure surfaces are properly prepared and meet quality standards.
- Physical stamina to lift and move heavy objects.

- Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
Work Environment
- Use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Typically in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, loud noise, and fumes which cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness.
