This role provides advanced financial and analytical support within a highly specialized defense and aviation program environment. You will act as a key advisor supporting acquisition planning, cost estimation, and manpower analysis for complex government initiatives. Working remotely with occasional travel, you will contribute to mission-critical decision-making through data-driven financial insights and modeling. The position requires close collaboration with program stakeholders to support budgeting, resource allocation, and strategic planning efforts. You will also play a central role in developing business cases and financial documentation that guide program execution. This is a high-impact opportunity for a finance-savvy consultant comfortable operating in a secure, structured, and mission-driven federal context.
You will provide end-to-end financial and analytical support for defense acquisition and program planning activities, ensuring accurate cost estimation, budgeting, and resource allocation for mission-critical initiatives. Your work will directly support strategic decision-making within complex government programs. Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering financial management support for acquisition planning, budgeting, and Program Objective Memorandum (POM) development
- Developing and maintaining cost estimates, financial models, and budget forecasts for programs and acquisition strategies
- Conducting manpower analysis, cost modeling, and resource allocation assessments to support operational planning
- Performing cost-benefit and trade-off analyses to support business case development and strategic recommendations
- Supporting studies and analysis activities, including financial reporting and documentation preparation
- Assisting in acquisition support tasks, including contract cost analysis and proposal reviews
- Maintaining financial tracking systems and ensuring accuracy of financial data inputs and outputs
This role requires strong experience in financial management within a Department of Defense or similarly structured government environment, combined with strong analytical and communication skills. You should be comfortable working with complex financial data and supporting high-level acquisition processes. Key qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- 7+ years of DoD financial management experience
- Active TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to maintain it
- Strong understanding of DoD financial systems, budgeting processes, and acquisition lifecycle
- Experience with cost estimating, financial modeling, and program budgeting (including POM development)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools
- Strong analytical thinking and ability to interpret complex data sets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while supporting mission-critical deadlines
- Master’s degree and additional DoD financial experience are considered a strong plus
