Shipping and Receiving Clerk in Canaan, Connecticut at Mountainside Treatment Center

About the Position:

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk plays an essential role in supporting Mountainside’s daily operations by ensuring supplies, equipment, and materials are accurately received, tracked, organized, and delivered to the appropriate departments and locations. This position is responsible for shipping and receiving, inventory control, supply distribution, asset tracking, and maintaining appropriate stock levels to support uninterrupted operations across the organization.

This role helps ensure staff have consistent access to the supplies and resources needed to provide exceptional care and service. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and excellent service.

Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Your Role:

• Manage the Sage Intacct inventory and purchasing system to track inventory levels, purchase orders, and supply requests.
• Process inventory requests and complete deliveries in a timely, efficient manner.
• Maintain accurate inventory counts for all stocked supplies and reorder materials based on established par levels and organizational needs.
• Monitor, evaluate, and adjust inventory levels to ensure operational demands are met while minimizing waste and unnecessary costs.
• Maintain required inventory levels for vending machines, marketing materials, client services supplies, office supplies, medical supplies, housekeeping supplies, and furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE).
• Process employee supply requests, coordinate deliveries, and provide departmental billing/invoice reporting as needed.
• Receive, inspect, and accurately log all incoming shipments from carriers including UPS, USPS, FedEx, and freight vendors in accordance with company standards.
• Verify product accuracy, quality, and condition for all received goods.
• Maintain proper chain of custody procedures for all prescription and controlled medications delivered to the Nursing Department.
• Partner with internal teams to continuously improve supply requisition processes and inventory workflows.
• Coordinate deliveries across departments while minimizing disruption to clients and daily operations.
• Maintain detailed inventory records and assist with regular audits of company assets and storage areas.
• Support cost-saving initiatives while maintaining Mountainside’s quality, safety, and service standards.
• Coordinate and execute deliveries to off-site and satellite locations as needed.
• Assist the Warehouse Manager and Purchasing Agent with operational initiatives, including FFE projects, asset management, and cross-functional department support.
• Receive, organize, label, and prepare FFE shipments for satellite and outpatient locations, ensuring materials are stored safely and accurately staged for delivery.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in shipping/receiving, inventory control, purchasing, or logistics required.
• Experience with asset management and inventory software strongly preferred.
• Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
• High attention to detail with strong accuracy in data entry, inventory management, and order fulfillment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Ability to lift, move, and transport materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Flexibility to work weekends or holidays as needed.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.

Compensation:

The base rate of pay for this position is $20.00 to $22.00 per hour. Actual pay is determined based on a number of job-related factors including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, performance, and working conditions.
