Job Summary: The Electrical Engineer I supports the design, development, and optimization of low and medium voltage power systems under the direction of senior engineers. Job Summary: The Electrical Engineer I supports the design, development, and optimization of low and medium voltage power systems under the direction of senior engineers. The Electrical Engineer I develops foundational technical skills through guided participation in engineering tasks across the design, manufacturing, and testing phases. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist (and develop under guidance) in the engineering and design of switchboard and switchgear to customer specifications, supporting the development of detailed electrical designs for components under senior engineer direction.
- Support the creation of drawings, elevations, and electrical schematics considering power distribution, protection, and control requirements.
- Assist (and develop under guidance) in the specification and selection of electrical components (e.g., circuit breakers, relays, transformers) based on performance criteria, applicable standards, and project requirements.
- Support the development of Sequences of Operation (SOO) documents and assist (and develop under guidance) in verifying system functionality against design intent.
- Assist (and develop under guidance) senior engineers throughout the manufacturing and testing phases, supporting technical coordination for assigned equipment designs.
- Support collaboration with test and field service teams to verify physical system operation against the final design and written SOO.
- Assist (and develop under guidance) with Factory Witness Tests (FWT) by supporting troubleshooting activities and communicating observations to the engineering team.
- Provide engineering and technical support to manufacturing under the direction of senior engineers, contributing to the optimization of production and industrial engineering practices.
- Support assigned project tasks within the design and validation phases, assisting (and developing under guidance) with technical coordination between procurement and production as directed.
- Assist (and develop under guidance) the engineering team in supporting Sales and Project Management with technical inquiries and proposal preparation.
- Participate in Engineering Review meetings, developing familiarity with client and regulatory specifications as they apply to switchgear and switchboard design.
- Support the development and maintenance of design calculators and internal tools, contributing to engineering workflow improvement efforts.
Qualifications:
- Entry-level or early-career experience in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field required.
- Previous field service exposure or coursework in power systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with automation, test systems, or electrical assemblies is preferred.
Core Competencies:
- Foundational knowledge of applicable electrical standards, including UL, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, and other relevant standards related to switchgear and switchboard electrical design.
- Developing knowledge of power distribution systems, switchgear, switchboards, controls, and complex distribution systems.
- Basic proficiency or coursework experience with electrical design tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or EPLAN.
