Job Description

Friendly House, Inc., is a 501(c) 3 non-profit agency located in Phoenix, Arizona whose primary function is to provide a variety of educational and social service programming aimed at addressing the needs of low-income individuals and families, vulnerable populations and diverse communities. Additionally, Friendly House operates a charter school, Academia del Pueblo, with the mission to provide an academic environment which promotes a culture of high expectations to students from diverse cultures. Friendly House was organized in 1920 as the Phoenix Americanization Committee by a group of Phoenix citizens with the assistance of the United States Department of Education. In our 100-year history, the work of Friendly House has resulted in building resilient communities that are helping to spur economic development, stabilize neighborhoods and revitalize our city.


About the role

This position is a Grant Funded position set to end on May 31, 2027, however a new application will be submitted this year, and we are confident that grant will be renewed. Position is 100% in-person and physical location is within the City of Phoenix HOPE VI Project/Emmett McLoughlin Community Training and Education Center.

The Housing Services Manager works to improve the quality of life for residents of public housing. This is accomplished by increasing residents’ access to services and by facilitating their participation in programs that enhance their economic, physical, social, educational and mental well-being. The Housing Services Manager will promote self-sufficiency for residents of public and assisted housing programs by offering an array of educational and training opportunities including job training, computer centers, the Family Self Sufficiency program, homeownership and youth and teen programs.

Pay range: $50,000 - $58,000 annually

What you'll do

  • Provide comprehensive, resident-centered services that support individuals and families in addressing economic, educational, health, and social challenges while promoting long-term stability and self-sufficiency.
  • Provide case management to identified families or individuals.
  • Complete Standards for Success assessments on all identified participants; develop goals consistent with program parameters
  • Develop and implement supportive service programming in collaboration with residents, management, and local community service providers.
  • Maintain partnership with Coalition of Service Providers.
  • Identify individuals who would benefit from services through on-going outreach.
  • Monitor program outcomes and evaluate participant progress to ensure achievement of grant and organizational objectives.
  • Assist in grant reporting and compliance activities.
  • Participate in budget planning and resource management.
  • Ensure accurate program documentation for audits and funding reviews.
  • Provide residents with access to appropriate community resources and supportive services through effective coordination with community partners.
  • Coordinate the delivery of services with local human service providers.
  • Maintain all necessary information regarding services to residents.
  • Support resident efforts in community building initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison with service providers and community agencies, upon request and/or authorization from the residents.
  • Maintain a team-focused, positive working relationship with housing management without interfering with management duties.
  • Provide case management and service coordination when appropriate and consultation with supervisor.
  • Develop and maintain a resource directory for the community.
  • Track client services, referrals, and educational activities in a timely, accurate manner in the Housing Supportive Services database.
  • Coordinate with Computer Lab/Career Center programming.
  • Provide supervision to social work interns who may be assigned to this program.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in social service programs or case management in a social service agency and an associate degree in social work, sociology, social services, or a related field or at least 60 college credits.
  • A Bachelor or Master’s degree can account for experience.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency using Microsoft Word.
  • Working irregular hours, weekends, and evenings may be required for events.
  • This position must meet fingerprint clearance card background check requirements.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) Preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in social work, sociology, social services or related field
  • Two years of experience determining eligibility for social services within a federally funded program.
  • One year of experience providing crisis intervention services within a case management setting.
  • Two years of experience providing social service information and referrals/resources.
  • Two years of experience developing case plans in a case management setting.
  • Two years of experience completing case note documentation.
  • Two years of experience providing customer service to a diverse population.
  • Experience with Housing programs.
