Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Scientist, Forecasting based in India.
This is a high-impact role focused on building and scaling predictive systems that power critical decisions across sales, inventory, transportation, and delivery operations. You will design advanced forecasting models that directly influence supply chain efficiency, customer experience, and cost optimization at scale. Working in a fast-paced, results-driven environment, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Operations, and Finance. The role blends statistical modeling, machine learning, and production-grade engineering to solve real-world logistics challenges. You will own the full lifecycle of ML solutions, from ideation to deployment and monitoring. This position operates in a remote setup in India with an evening shift (2:30 pm to 11:30 pm IST) and reports to the Director of Supply Chain Forecasting.
- Develop and deploy advanced forecasting models for sales, inventory, transportation, and transit time estimation to improve accuracy, efficiency, and operational performance.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Operations, Finance) to translate business needs into scalable predictive and ML-driven solutions.
- Own end-to-end machine learning lifecycles, including data exploration, model development, deployment, monitoring, and continuous optimization.
- Identify opportunities to improve supply chain performance through predictive analytics, cost reduction, and inventory/transit optimization.
- Communicate insights, recommendations, and model outputs clearly to senior stakeholders, enabling data-driven strategic decisions.
- Promote best practices in modeling, experimentation, and production deployment to ensure scalability and reliability.
- 4+ years of experience in data science, machine learning engineering, or applied analytics roles.
- Strong proficiency in Python with solid understanding of software engineering best practices (testing, version control, code reviews).
- Hands-on experience across the full ML lifecycle, including production deployment and model monitoring.
- Strong knowledge of forecasting, time-series modeling, and machine learning techniques for real-world applications.
- Familiarity with data engineering fundamentals such as pipelines, data processing, and storage systems.
- Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders and translating business problems into analytical solutions.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Operations Research) is a plus.
- Experience with cloud platforms (preferably Azure) and production ML systems is highly desirable.
- Medical, term life, and accidental insurance coverage
- Paid leave structure including casual, sick, earned, and public holidays
- Generous maternity and paternity leave policies
- Quarterly wellness days to support work-life balance
