Job Description
Burn Patient Care Role
Role Overview
Under the direction of a nurse manager, performs patient-related services for burn patients, pediatric through geriatric patients, and under the general supervision of a registered nurse (RN). This position provides professional, skilled patient care tasks in collaboration with physicians and other disciplines. [1]
Core Responsibilities
Tasks include:
- Direct patient care
- Vital signs
- Daily ADLs
- Clinical procedures
- Dressing changes
- Other functions as requested
Communication & Documentation
- Communicate patient needs and observe/report changes in patient conditions to supervising nurses or physicians.
- Documentation will occur as instructed relative to the care delivered.
Hourly Pay Range: $16.87 - $24.88
Qualifications
Education:
- Requires a high school diploma or GED and certification from an accredited nursing assistant/health aide program.
- Experience:
- Prefer at least one (1) year of hospital experience as a CNA, PCT, or EMT, preferably in a burn/wound care environment.
Certification/Licensure:
- Requires certification by the Arizona State Board of Nursing as a CNA or certification as an EMT by the Arizona Department of Health Services, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, Trauma System for EMTs, or a nationally recognized equivalent certificate.
- Requires a BLS issued by the American Heart Association.
- PALS, ACLS, and ABLS certification is preferred within one year of employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bilingual is preferred.
- Must have the ability to work with culturally diverse people.
- Requires excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills.
- Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
