Position Overview
The Event Sales Manager is responsible for generating catering revenue by identifying, developing, and securing event business for the hotel. This role manages all aspects of the catering sales process, from prospecting and client relations through contract negotiations and agreement confirmation, ensuring high-quality service, strong financial performance, and exceptional client satisfaction.
What You'll Do
- Prospect, solicit, and secure new catering business across corporate, social, wedding, and group markets.
- Conduct sales calls, site tours, menu tastings, presentations, and client meetings to position the hotel as the preferred event venue.
- Prepare detailed proposals, contracts, and catering agreements while negotiating terms that achieve profitability and maintain brand standards.
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of leads through proactive outreach, networking, and relationship building.
- Meet or exceed assigned sales goals and contribute to the hotel's overall revenue strategy.
- Serve as the primary contact for clients from initial inquiry through the sales phase.
- Gather detailed event requirements and create accurate event sales agreements, diagrams, and custom menu solutions when needed.
- Coordinate closely with Banquets, Culinary, Events, and other hotel departments to ensure complete understanding of event requirements and a seamless transition into the planning phase.
- Conduct pre-event meetings and post-event follow-up with clients to ensure satisfaction and encourage repeat business.
- Provide recommendations and creative ideas to enhance event experiences while adhering to hotel capabilities and brand standards.
- Work closely with the Director of Events, Director of Sales & Marketing, Executive Chef, Banquet leadership, and other operational teams.
- Assist on-site during major events as needed to support successful execution.
- Maintain accurate and organized client files, proposals, contracts, agreements, and correspondence.
- Input and track client information, booking details, and revenue data within the hotel's sales and catering systems.
- Prepare forecasts, sales reports, and market analysis to support departmental strategy and revenue growth.
- Ensure all agreements and event plans adhere to hotel policies, safety standards, and financial guidelines.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support business needs.

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in event documentation, contracts, and client communications.
- Proficiency with hotel sales and catering systems, CRM platforms, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to analyze sales performance, forecasts, and market trends.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and operational leaders.
- Professional appearance and adherence to grooming standards.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, Event Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 1–3 years of catering sales, hotel sales, event planning, or related hospitality experience required.
- Experience selling weddings, social events, corporate meetings, and group business strongly preferred.
- Experience negotiating contracts and managing client relationships preferred.
