The Student Services Coordinator I plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive support to students, contributing to their overall academic success and well-being. This position involves collaborating with various departments and stakeholders to address student needs, facilitate engagement, and ensure a positive student experience.
What You’ll Invest In
The Student Services Coordinator l will carry out these responsibilities:
Student Support:
- Assist students in navigating policies and procedures.
- Address student concerns and provide guidance on available resources for academic and personal support.
Enrollment Services:
- Assist with the enrollment process, including registration, course add/drop, and withdrawals.
- Collaborate with Student Engagement to facilitate the smooth transition of new students.
- Assist with basic tech support.
Records Management:
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
- Process and update student information in the database.
- Provide support in crisis situations and refer students to appropriate resources.
- Collaborate with Student Success and other support units to ensure a holistic approach to student well-being.
Communication:
- Serve as a point of contact for student inquiries, emails, and phone calls.
- Disseminate important information to students regarding deadlines, policies, and events.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Associates degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
- 0 - 3 years of experience in student services, advising, or a related field.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success and development.
- Successful completion of a background check and current and/or ability to obtain the following clearances: Child Abuse, State Police, FBI Fingerprinting, and Mandated Reporter for Child Abuse.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent communication (written, verbal, listening and public speaking) skills.
- Familiarity with basic tech support.
- Excellent working knowledge of field of work.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
- Knowledge of policies, academic requirements, and support services.
- Familiarity with student information systems and database management.
- Must be service oriented with a focus on helping others.
- Resolving conflicts and negotiating with others.
- Ability to multi-task, set priorities and achieve desired goals.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite.

This is a part-time position. Portage Learning typically operates Mondays to Fridays, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Employee schedules may vary within those hours. All staff members must attend required meetings and training at the office in Chippewa Township, PA.

Travel
The job may require occasional travel, primarily local during the business day, which may entail one or more overnight stays. Travel on one or more days of a weekend may occur occasionally.
