Description:

The CAD & Workflow Coordinator is responsible for creating accurate, high-quality working drawings and supporting operational excellence initiatives across the organization. This role uses Autodesk Inventor to develop models and drawings while ensuring compliance with industry standards. In addition to design responsibilities, the position supports process documentation, standard operating procedure (SOP) development, workflow standardization, and continuous improvement efforts, including identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency gains.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

CAD Design & Engineering Support

  • Review client drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with customer standards and requirements.
  • Create detailed working drawings and models using Autodesk Inventor based on client prints, concept models, or engineering requirements.
  • Revise and update drawings to reflect engineering changes, corrections, and design improvements.
  • Generate STEP files and other required file formats for inspection programming, manufacturing, or additional operational needs.
  • Develop and maintain part families, templates, and standardized design resources to improve design efficiency and consistency.
  • Provide technical and engineering support to production and manufacturing teams as needed.
  • Ensure all drawings are completed accurately, clearly, and within established timelines.
  • Interpret and apply ASTM, ANSI, ISO, and customer-specific documentation standards.

Technical Documentation & Document Control

  • Organize and maintain CAD-related files, including drawings, PDFs, models, scanned documents, and revision records.
  • Maintain drawing revision history and document changes to support traceability and configuration control.
  • Assist in maintaining document control standards for engineering and operational documentation.
  • Develop, document, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and technical process documentation.
  • Create standardized visual work instructions and process documentation to support training and operational consistency.

Process Improvement & Workflow Standardization

  • Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to standardize workflows and improve process consistency.
  • Analyze current processes and recommend improvements to reduce waste, improve throughput, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support continuous improvement projects related to safety, quality, delivery, and operational performance.
  • Identify and support opportunities to automate repetitive administrative, documentation, or production-support tasks.
  • Assist with implementation of digital tools, workflow enhancements, and process automation initiatives.

Training & Cross-Functional Support

  • Support onboarding and training of new employees related to print interpretation, documentation processes, and workflow procedures.
  • Provide cross-functional support to engineering, production, and quality departments to ensure accurate communication and execution of technical requirements.
Requirements:

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in CAD, Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 2+ years of related CAD, drafting, technical documentation, or manufacturing support experience preferred.
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D CAD software.
  • Knowledge of ASTM, ANSI, ISO, and customer documentation standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot design, documentation, and process-related issues.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Experience creating technical documentation, SOPs, and work instructions.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or process optimization practices preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, workflow automation, or document control systems is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively across departments.

Work Schedule:

  • This is a full-time, benefits eligible position requiring approximately 40 hours per week. Core work schedule is Monday – Friday from 6:30am – 3:00pm. Individual must be flexible to work overtime as needed.
Physical/Environmental Demands:
  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer workstation for extended periods.
  • Occasional walking on the production floor and climbing stairs to access various areas of the facility.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally for handling drawings, models, or related materials.
  • Visual acuity required for detailed design work and reviewing technical documents.
