Job Description

Position Summary:

The Care Plan Registered Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing services to students across assigned schools within Bay District Schools. This position is a full-time seasonal position.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides care plan nursing services in assigned schools throughout Bay District Schools, including assessments as needed for school health.
  • Performs care plan record reviews in assigned schools to determine compliance with Florida Statutes and Bay District School requirements.
  • Develops, documents and manages student care plans within the scope of nursing practice.
  • Distributes care plans to appropriate staff and provides student specific training as needed
  • Appropriately documents all services provided in the Medical Records System (s) used by PanCare of Florida and Bay District Schools.
  • Actively cooperates with community agencies or organizations to facilitate continuity of care and maintain optimal working relationships.
  • Regular and Predictable Attendance
  • Participates in FDOH compliance and monitoring
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Regular, predictable onsite attendance.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
  • State Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification: Certification in basic life support (BLS) and first aid.
  • Clinical Experience: At least 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in pediatric, school health, or community health settings.
  • Knowledge of School Health: Experience working with students, understanding common childhood illnesses, and providing health education.
  • Emergency Care: Familiarity with managing medical emergencies in a school environment, including injury response and asthma or anaphylactic emergencies.
  • Fingerprint Background Check: Must pass a Level 2 fingerprint background check, including both state and federal (FBI) criminal history checks, due to the nature of working with children and vulnerable populations.

Physical Demands:

  • Physical stamina, endurance, and mobility, that would not be adversely affected by lifting, carrying, and balancing.  
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to assist and transport patients and to transport, pull and push equipment. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights.  
  • Motor coordination over uneven terrain, such as playgrounds and practice fields, is necessary to attend to injured or sick patients in locations outside of the Health Room. This includes responding to emergency situations where the patient requires CPR/First Aid. 
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. 
  • Ongoing need for employees to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. 
  • Frequent interactions with patients, patient parent/guardian, nurses, and others that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. 
  • Emotional maturity and stability to approach highly stressful human situations in a calm and rational manner.
