Position Summary

The Vice President of Retail Growth is a strategic and results-driven leader responsible for developing and executing the credit union's retail growth strategy across our financial center network. This executive role drives membership growth, deposit acquisition, consumer lending production, relationship expansion, and member retention while ensuring a consistent, exceptional member experience.

Reporting as a key member of the leadership team, the VP of Retail Growth develops Financial Center Managers into accountable business leaders who understand their markets, build high-performing teams, strengthen community and business relationships, and deliver measurable performance outcomes.

This position partners closely with Marketing, Lending, Digital Experience, Operations, Human Resources, Compliance, and other business units to execute growth initiatives, strengthen referral channels, improve conversion and retention, and ensure retail strategies align with organizational objectives. The role also provides executive oversight of financial center operations, service quality, risk management, and regulatory compliance to support sustainable growth and long-term member trust.

What You'll DoDrive Retail Growth Strategy
  • Develop and execute strategies to increase membership, deposits, consumer loans, relationship depth, and member retention.
  • Translate organizational priorities into actionable market and financial center growth plans with clear goals, measurements, and accountability.
  • Identify opportunities through analysis of market conditions, member behaviors, competitive activity, and financial center performance.
  • Establish performance dashboards, scorecards, forecasts, and business review processes to drive execution and results.
  • Provide executive leadership with recommendations regarding growth opportunities, market trends, resource needs, execution challenges, and emerging risks.
Lead Through Leaders
  • Coach, develop, and inspire Financial Center Managers to serve as business leaders responsible for growth, employee development, member experience, operational excellence, and risk management.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability standards.
  • Build a strong leadership bench through succession planning, mentoring, career development, and leadership coaching.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, collaboration, and results.
Deliver Exceptional Member Growth and Engagement
  • Champion a needs-based sales and service culture focused on ethical recommendations and long-term member relationships.
  • Increase new member acquisition, deposit growth, loan production, relationship penetration, account activation, and retention.
  • Strengthen referrals to mortgage, wealth management, business services, and other lines of business.
  • Improve lead management effectiveness, conversion rates, follow-up discipline, and member engagement strategies.
Build Enterprise Partnerships
  • Partner with Marketing to drive acquisition campaigns, local market initiatives, retention efforts, and lead generation strategies.
  • Collaborate with Lending to increase application volume, referral quality, conversion rates, and funded loans.
  • Work closely with Digital Experience leaders to ensure digital capabilities support retail growth and member engagement objectives.
  • Partner with Operations to simplify processes and enhance capacity for growth-focused activities.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Human Resources on budgeting, staffing strategies, leadership development, and performance management.
Ensure Operational Excellence and Compliance
  • Maintain executive oversight of financial center operations, service quality, internal controls, audits, compliance, and risk management activities.
  • Ensure all growth initiatives, sales practices, and member interactions adhere to applicable regulations and organizational standards.
  • Evaluate staffing models, service levels, resource allocation, market opportunities, and branch performance to optimize results.
  • Participate in strategic decisions regarding branch expansion, relocation, renovation, consolidation, and future network strategy.
Represent UNCLE in the Community
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, employer groups, business leaders, and industry partners.
  • Serve as an ambassador for UNCLE Credit Union and strengthen the organization's reputation throughout the communities we serve.

  • Strong expertise in retail banking, credit union operations, deposit growth, consumer lending, relationship development, and member retention strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategic objectives into measurable business results.
  • Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to interpret performance metrics, forecasts, and market data.
  • Proven ability to lead through managers and develop high-performing leadership teams.
  • Exceptional coaching, communication, presentation, influencing, and change leadership skills.
  • Ability to create and sustain a needs-based sales culture focused on ethics, member value, and accountability.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to drive results across organizational boundaries.
  • Sound judgment balancing growth objectives, member needs, operational integrity, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and financial services technology platforms.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management, Marketing, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience within retail banking, credit unions, or financial services.
  • Experience leading multiple branches, financial centers, markets, or geographically dispersed teams.
  • Proven success driving membership growth, deposit growth, consumer lending production, and relationship development.
  • Demonstrated experience developing managers accountable for business performance, employee engagement, operational execution, and service quality.
  • Experience analyzing performance results, conducting business reviews, implementing corrective action plans, and balancing growth objectives with risk management and regulatory compliance.
  • Credit union experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing and executing market-specific growth strategies preferred.
