The Foreman, Sheet Metal plays a critical leadership role in overseeing and coordinating sheet metal installation projects within the construction industry. This position is responsible for managing a team of sheet metal workers to ensure that all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The Foreman will interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to guide the team in fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal components such as ductwork, ventilation systems, and other related structures. They will also serve as the primary point of contact between project managers, subcontractors, and workers, ensuring clear communication and timely resolution of any issues. Ultimately, the Foreman ensures that projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all safety regulations and industry standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Safety First– Ensure a safe work environment all day every day.
- Conduct Toolbox Topic every week and turn in Sign in Sheets every Monday to HR and superintendents.
- Maintain strict adherence to the policies set forth in the K Corp Safety Manual.
- Read chapter from the health and safety manual with your team weekly during the weekly safety meeting.
- Manage PPE supplies for your site.
- Identify and eliminate construction and job site hazards.
- Quality– Ensure quality standards exceed customer expectations.
- Manage and maintain QA/QC plan.
- QA/QC plans to be filled out and updated for each work task.
- Maintain and update installed quantity and labor tracking plan.
- Planning- Plan your work and work your plan, coordinate, and supervise construction activities.
- Participate in project turn over and change order – Zero. (When invited by the Superintendent.)
- Maintain Daily Reports and all weekly/daily required paperwork.
- Update weekly progress on Project Drawings.
- Create and update Three (3) week project plan look ahead on a weekly basis.
- Maintain schedule and man loading projections.
- Manage subcontractors working for K Corp monitoring schedule and quality.
- Thoroughly review and understand scope documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Interface with all project team members as required in the establishment of project schedules.
- Project Execution– Managing your project requirements.
- Prepare accurate material take-offs and properly identify specified materials as per project plans, specifications, and approved submittals when applicable. (Complete all columns within the Material Requisition Sheet prior to submission to purchase.)
- Allow 3 – 5 days for procurement on all material requisitions.
- Layout appropriate systems and make isometric and schematic sketches from blueprints, submittals, and job orders.
- Understand ASME and ANSI Codes and Standards as they apply to project drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate placement and storage of materials, tools and supplies to support the construction plan, assist in maintaining assigned tool inventory.
- Maintain equipment rental schedule.
- Mentor trade personnel for professional development.
- Daily / Weekly document control / Policy Adherence
- Perform other duties as assigned by your Superintendent/Manger as needed.
- Maintain all employee timekeeping including accurate hours as well as applicable cost coding.
- Approve Paid Time Off (PTO) forms 3 weeks prior to time off request.
- Adhere to the K Corp Vehicle Policy Agreement and required Vehicle Maintenance.
- Interface with Superintendent to ensure all company, customer and project policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Maintain sign in sheets and turn in weekly.
- Submit expense reports with receipts weekly.
- Generate 3 week look ahead schedules and turn in weekly.
- Fill out PTPs, review with crew and revise when task changes.
- Fill out Daily Reports and include photos where applicable.
- Perform weekly safety observations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of experience in commercial mechanical and/or plumbing construction
- 2+ years in a foreman, lead, or supervisory role on commercial projects
- Strong knowledge of commercial plumbing systems, codes, and installation practices
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings
- Proven experience coordinating crews, subcontractors, and material deliveries
- Commitment to job site safety and compliance with OSHA standards
- Ability to manage schedules, manpower, and productivity to meet project milestones
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as required
- Ability to pass pre‑employment requirements (as applicable)
- Pro Core and ADP Time & Attendance (Preferred)
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and supervise field crews
- Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, and communication skills
- Solid understanding of commercial plumbing and mechanical systems and applicable codes
- Experience coordinating inspections, quality control, labor, materials, and job progress
- Strong commitment to jobsite safety, enforcing company policies, and maintaining high workmanship standards
- Excellent time management, organization, and customer‑service skills
- Ability to maintain professional relationships with project teams, contractors, inspectors, and vendors
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of sheet metal workers on construction sites.
- Interpret and review blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan work assignments.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and OSHA regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Monitor project progress and quality, making adjustments as necessary to meet deadlines and standards.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate team members to promote skill development and productivity.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other trades to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Manage inventory of materials and tools, ensuring availability and proper use.
- Prepare and maintain accurate reports on work progress, labor hours, and equipment usage.
