Description: About the Position

The Point Surf Park is looking for friendly, organized, and dependable Surf Rentals Team Members to help guests get the equipment they need for an exceptional day at The Point.

You will help guests check in for rentals, select and fit surfboards and wetsuits, process transactions, inspect equipment, maintain inventory, clean and organize gear, and answer routine questions about the rental process.

We are looking for people who enjoy working with guests, pay attention to details, take care of equipment, and know when to stop and ask for help rather than guess.

What You’ll DoHelp Guests Get Ready to Surf

• Welcome guests and help identify their rental needs.

• Confirm reservations, waivers, rental selections, return times, and payment information.

• Help select and fit surfboards, wetsuits, leashes, jerseys, and other approved equipment using established guidelines.

• Clearly explain basic equipment use, handling, care, storage, and return expectations.

• Provide clear direction about the rental process and what guests should do next.

Inspect and Care for Equipment

• Inspect equipment before it is issued and when it is returned.

• Document damage, missing items, abnormal wear, sanitation concerns, and safety defects.

• Do not issue equipment when condition or suitability is uncertain.

• Wash, dry, sanitize, inspect, organize, and restock rental equipment.

• Keep boards, wetsuits, leashes, accessories, racks, storage areas, and supplies organized and ready for use.

Process Transactions Accurately

• Process rental charges, deposits, add-ons, insurance options, discounts, refunds, and adjustments within assigned authority.

• Clearly explain approved rental-insurance or damage-protection options without making promises outside company policy.

• Protect guest payment information and confidential rental records.

• Maintain accurate inventory counts and equipment accountability.

Support Our Guests

• Answer routine rental and equipment questions professionally.

• Help resolve routine concerns calmly and respectfully.

• Escalate damage disputes, insurance concerns, significant complaints, injuries, unsafe equipment, missing property, threats, harassment, or policy exceptions to a Lead or Manager.

• Coordinate with Guest Services, Lifeguards, Water Patrol, Surf Instruction, and other departments when guests need additional assistance.

Keep the Rental Area Ready

• Keep counters, racks, equipment, pathways, storage areas, and guest-facing spaces clean and organized.

• Complete opening, shift-change, downtime, and closing responsibilities.

• Help maintain accurate equipment counts, secure storage, and complete shift handoffs.

What We’re Looking For

• Friendly, professional, and helpful communication.

• Strong attention to detail when handling equipment, transactions, inventory, reservations, waivers, and damage documentation.

• Ability to stay organized and calm during high-volume periods.

• Dependability, honesty, teamwork, and coachability.

• Good judgment and the willingness to ask for help when equipment suitability, guest safety, or policy is unclear.

• Prior customer service, hospitality, surf shop, recreation, retail, rental, inventory, or cash-handling experience preferred.

• Basic knowledge of surfboards, wetsuits, equipment sizing, and surf terminology preferred, but we will provide training on our processes.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

The Kind of Team Member Who Will Thrive Here

You enjoy helping people.

You take care of equipment like it matters, because it does.

You notice damage, missing gear, or an incorrect fit instead of assuming someone else will catch it.

You stay calm when the rental area gets busy.

You do not pressure a guest or guess when you are unsure about equipment.

And you understand that a great surf experience starts before the guest ever gets in the water.

Schedule

Schedules may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, opening or closing shifts, special events, weather-related changes, and periods of high guest volume.

Regular and reliable attendance, punctuality, and the ability to remain for the full assigned shift are essential.
