Job Description

This position requires a Florida APRN license in good standing, as well as resuscitation credentials in the areas of BLS and ACLS.
A. The following measures may be initiated by the A.P.R.N./P.A.;
1. Eliciting health histories, performing physical exams, ordering and interpreting lab test, x-rays and diagnostic procedures, giving emotional support or counseling, patient education, comprehensive physical exams. This includes well child exams as well as routine adult health maintenance.
2. Eliciting histories, performing appropriate exams, ordering interpreting lab tests, x-rays and diagnostic procedures, assessing and managing episodic visits for acute and chronic illness.
3. Review of patient’s condition, tolerance to medical therapy, and appropriate physical findings or lab data for patients seen as follow up for chronic illnesses or health conditions. Managing a plan for follow up and continued care.
4. Comprehensive assessment of patient’s educational needs and use of various teaching methods, including counseling, patient handouts and relaxation techniques when habit or lifestyle modification is desired or medically necessary.
5. Referrals to specific medical specialists or counseling professionals when appropriate.
B. The following lab test and diagnostic procedures may be ordered and interpreted by the A.P.R.N./P.A.:
1. All appropriate blood, urine, and stool tests.
2. Strep screens
3. Microscopic slide evaluation
4. X-rays (to be interpreted by radiologist)
5. Mammogram (to be interpreted by radiologist)
6. Pap smears (interpreted by Pathology lab)
7. Ultrasound (interpreted by radiologist)
8. Viral and bacterial cultures with sensitivities
9. Other diagnostic test deemed appropriate by the A.P.R.N.
10. Pulmonary functio
11. EKGs (interpreted by physician)
C. The following medications may be prescribed, initiated, administered or altered by the A.P.R.N./P.A.:

Cough and Cold Preps
Decongestant Nasal Sprays
Respiratory Anti Asthmatic Steroids
Respiratory Mast Cell Stabilizers
Respiratory Anti Rhinitis Stabilizers

Antihistamines
Muscle Relaxants
Anti Arthritics/Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatories
Analgesics
Non Prescription
Not controlled

Bowel Evacuants/Laxatives
Appetite suppressants
Diabetic Therapeutics
Oral Agents

Oral Antifungal
Anti-cholinergic
Topical Corticosteroid
Topical Ophthalmics
Anti-Coagulants
Oral and Topical Acne Medications
Oral and Topical Anti-Viral Agents
Otic preparations
Local anesthesia
Injectable
Allergy injections when prescribed by an Allergist
Antibiotics
Antihistamines
Antiematics
Hormones
Immunizations
Insulin
Local anesthesia
Narcotic Analgesics (to be co-signed)
Non-narcotic analgesics
Steroids

D. Other measures may be initiated, depending on the patient's condition and
judgement of the A.P.R.N./P.A. including:
1. Suturing of lacerations not requiring ligament or tendon repair
2. Application of splints or prescribing of prosthetic devices.
3. Incision & draining of abscesses
4. Removal of foreign body
5. Wart removal
6. Removal of skin lesions with appropriate pathology
7. Clipping of ingrown toenails/wedge excision/toenail removal
8. Joint injection
9. Cryotherapy
10. Other procedures which the A.R.N.P. has been educated to perform
