Job Description
Receiving Clerk
The Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving, inspecting, documenting, organizing, and distributing incoming materials, products, and supplies. This position ensures that all incoming shipments are accurately received, properly labeled, stored, and made available to the appropriate departments in a timely manner.
The Receiving Clerk works closely with Procurement, Production, and other departments to coordinate incoming deliveries and ensure materials are available to support production requirements. This position is expected to perform all duties in accordance with company quality, safety, inventory control, and efficiency standards.
Essential Functions/Job ResponsibilitiesCoordinate with Procurement to maintain and monitor a schedule of expected deliveries.
Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities and condition of materials.
Unload, unpack, and inspect incoming shipments using appropriate equipment and procedures.
Review shipments against purchase orders, invoices, packing slips, manifests, and other applicable documentation to verify accuracy.
Identify, document, and report overages, shortages, damaged goods, and other discrepancies.
Enter receiving information accurately into the company inventory or database system.
Ensure all received materials are properly labeled before being placed into assigned storage locations.
Prepare, organize, and stage received materials for inventory and departmental use.
Maintain accurate inventory levels and perform cycle counts as required.
Return damaged, incorrect, or otherwise unacceptable materials to suppliers or shippers as directed.
Store materials in an orderly and safe manner in designated locations.
Ensure materials are stored under appropriate conditions and protected from damage or contamination.
Verify receiving documentation and ensure invoices and related paperwork are properly signed and processed for satisfactory deliveries.
Issue materials to production work orders in accordance with established procedures.
Coordinate with Production to ensure required materials are available and prepared for work orders as needed.
Move, organize, and maintain materials in clearly identified and properly labeled storage locations.
Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to unload, load, transport, and position materials safely.
Pull LEDs from buffer inventory as needed to support production requirements.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe receiving and storage areas.
Follow all company policies and procedures related to safety, quality, inventory control, and material handling.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience/Requirements
Required
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to accurately read and interpret purchase orders, packing slips, invoices, and other shipping and receiving documents.
Ability to safely lift, move, and handle materials as required by the position.
Basic computer skills and ability to accurately enter information into company systems.
Ability to maintain accurate records and identify discrepancies.
Forklift certification or ability to obtain forklift certification.
Preferred
Previous warehouse, shipping, receiving, or material-handling experience.
Experience working with inventory management or warehouse management systems.
Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Ability to frequently bend, crouch, stoop, kneel, reach, and maneuver in warehouse and storage areas.
Ability to safely lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds as required.
Ability to safely operate or work around forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
Ability to perform repetitive movements associated with receiving, stocking, labeling, and handling materials.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and safely perform the essential functions of the position.
