ABOUT THE POSITION

Shoreline Orthopaedics is seeking a licensed Athletic Trainer to join our orthopedic team.

In this role, you'll collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, PM&R specialists, podiatrists, and other healthcare professionals to assess, treat, educate, and rehabilitate patients recovering from musculoskeletal injuries or managing chronic orthopedic conditions. Your primary responsibilities will be within our orthopedic clinics, working alongside providers to deliver exceptional patient care. As part of our collaboration with Holland Hospital, you'll also have the opportunity to provide athletic training outreach coverage during vacations, medical leaves, or other staffing needs, helping ensure continuity of care for local athletes and schools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver comprehensive athletic training services including injury prevention, assessment, emergency care, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play planning.
  • Collaborate with Holland Hospital Athletic Trainers to provide outreach coverage for local sporting events, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Serve as a liaison between physicians, athletes, coaches, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate patient care.
  • Assist providers during orthopedic clinic visits, procedures, splinting, casting, and patient education.
  • Perform preoperative and postoperative assessments, including DARI Motion Analysis, to evaluate movement patterns, identify functional deficits, and assist in developing individualized exercise recommendations and patient education plans.
  • Assist with injections, wound care, ultrasound-guided procedures, and additional orthopedic interventions.
  • Participate in the continued development of Shoreline's Athletic Trainer role within orthopedic surgical services.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, activity restrictions, and long-term recovery strategies.
  • Support a collaborative, patient-centered clinical environment.

Education & Experience

  • Graduation from a CAATE-accredited Athletic Training program required
  • Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field preferred
  • Current Athletic Trainer licensure/certification as required by state regulations

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Schedule flexibility Monday through Saturday between 7:30 AM and 6:30 PM, with occasional evening and weekend outreach coverage
  • Ability to safely utilize orthopedic equipment and appropriate personal protective equipment while working in a clinical environment
