As a Lead Medical Assistant, you will combine hands-on patient care with team leadership in a dynamic, technology-enabled healthcare environment. This role offers the opportunity to directly support patients while mentoring and developing a high-performing Medical Assistant team. You will play a key role in driving operational excellence, improving patient engagement, and maintaining quality and compliance standards across care programs. Working closely with clinical leadership, you will help optimize workflows, enhance team performance, and contribute to better long-term patient outcomes. This position is ideal for an experienced healthcare professional who enjoys balancing patient interaction with coaching, collaboration, and continuous improvement in a remote-first setting.
- Provide direct patient support by managing an assigned caseload, conducting outreach, facilitating enrollment, maintaining ongoing patient engagement, and documenting all interactions accurately and compliantly.
- Serve as a working team leader by modeling exceptional patient service, professionalism, and operational excellence while maintaining individual productivity goals.
- Coach, mentor, and support Medical Assistants through regular performance reviews, one-on-one feedback sessions, and continuous professional development initiatives.
- Oversee daily team productivity, patient enrollment performance, documentation quality, and operational metrics, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Coordinate patient caseload distribution to maximize efficiency while identifying staffing or workload challenges and escalating concerns appropriately.
- Lead onboarding and training for new Medical Assistants, ensuring successful integration and achievement of expected performance standards.
- Develop, maintain, and improve standard operating procedures, training resources, and workflow documentation to support consistent team performance.
- Conduct documentation audits, monitor compliance with clinical protocols and regulatory requirements, and promote continuous quality improvement.
- Collaborate with recruitment teams by supporting hiring activities, evaluating candidates, and helping identify future staffing needs.
- Analyze operational data and key performance indicators to identify trends, improve patient engagement, enhance productivity, and support strategic decision-making.
- Associate's degree in a healthcare-related field.
- Active and valid Medical Assistant (MA) certification in good standing.
- Approximately five or more years of direct patient care experience, preferably in medical-surgical, home care, or similar clinical settings.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience overseeing Medical Assistants or healthcare support staff is preferred.
- Experience with chronic care management, remote patient monitoring, telehealth, or case management is considered an advantage.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, patient engagement platforms, and healthcare technology tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret performance dashboards and use data to improve team outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trust with both patients and colleagues.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities independently in a remote work environment.
- Bilingual or multilingual communication skills are a plus.
