Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Lead Bartender is responsible for providing exceptional guest service while serving as the shift leader for the bar operation. In addition to performing all duties of a Bartender, the Lead Bartender assists with coordinating daily bar operations, ensuring quality standards are maintained, supporting and coaching Bartenders and Barbacks, maintaining inventory and organization, and serving as a resource to the team. The Lead Bartender leads by example through professionalism, product knowledge, and commitment to outstanding Guest service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (include but not limited to the following)
Guest Service
- Perform all duties of the Bartender position.
- Deliver friendly, professional, and efficient service to every Guest.
- Foster a welcoming, energetic, and fun atmosphere.
- Resolve Guest concerns quickly and professionally, escalating issues when appropriate.
- Ensure beverage quality, consistency, and presentation standards are maintained.
- Promote gaming promotions, special events, and property amenities.
Leadership
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Bartenders and Barbacks during assigned shifts.
- Lead by example in professionalism, attendance, appearance, and guest service.
- Assist in coordinating workflow to ensure efficient bar operations.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and support to Team Members during the shift.
- Assist with the onboarding and training of new Bartenders and Barbacks.
- Reinforce company policies, service standards, and responsible beverage service practices.
- Communicate operational concerns to management.
- Assist management in identifying operational improvements.
Operations
- Monitor bar setup before opening and ensure proper closing procedures are completed.
- Ensure bars remain fully stocked throughout the shift.
- Assist with liquor, beer, wine, and supply inventories.
- Help monitor product usage to reduce waste and shortages.
- Ensure recipes, portion controls, and pour standards are consistently followed.
- Verify that all equipment is functioning properly and report maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and sanitation standards throughout the shift.
Cash Handling
- Operate POS systems accurately.
- Follow all cash handling procedures.
- Assist in resolving register discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with financial controls and internal procedures.
Safety & Compliance
- Monitor Guest alcohol consumption and intervene appropriately.
- Ensure Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) standards are followed.
- Promote compliance with health department regulations.
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Assist management during emergency situations as directed.
Team Support
- Work collaboratively with Cocktail Servers, Barbacks, Supervisors, Security, and other departments.
- Step into operational needs during high-volume periods.
- Assist with scheduling breaks when requested by management.
- Perform additional duties assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Minimum three (3) years of high-volume bartending experience.
- Previous experience serving as a Lead Bartender or informal team leader preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits.
- Demonstrated leadership and coaching abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong guest service orientation.
- Ability to count money accurately.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Must maintain professional appearance standards.
- Must obtain an RBS training certification within 60 days of employment. The passage of Assembly Bills 1221 in 2017 and 82 in 2020, effective July 1, 2022, dictates any alcoholic beverage server must have a valid responsible beverage service (RBS) certification within 60 days from their first date of employment. To become certified, you must complete RBS training from an ABC-accredited RBS training provider and pass an ABC-administered RBS exam.

- While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet to back of the house and office areas to moderate on the Gaming floor.
- Should be able to adapt well to the casino environment, involving large numbers of people, loud and continuous high noise level.
- Must also be able to psychologically handle the concepts of persons occupying an establishment for the purposes of gambling, smoking, drinking, and eating.
