The Project Manager is responsible for leading the successful execution of construction projects from award through completion. This role oversees project planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and field execution while serving as the primary liaison between customers, field operations, subcontractors, and company leadership.
Working closely with Superintendents, Foremen, and Operations, the Project Manager ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company quality standards. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, financially minded, and experienced managing multiple construction projects in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution
- Manage multiple projects from startup through closeout
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
- Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and project logistics
- Monitor project progress and proactively resolve issues impacting schedule or budget
- Review project contracts, plans, specifications, and change orders
- Participate in project meetings, site walks, and customer coordination
Financial & Operational Management
- Monitor project budgets, job costs, forecasting, and profitability
- Review and approve invoices, change orders, and project billing
- Track labor, equipment, and material costs
- Coordinate with Accounting to ensure accurate project reporting and invoicing
Field & Client Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact between field crews, customers, subcontractors, and management
- Provide leadership and support to Superintendents and field personnel
- Conduct jobsite visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety
- Build strong customer relationships and address project issues promptly
Quality, Safety & Reporting
- Promote compliance with company safety policies and OSHA requirements
- Ensure projects meet quality standards and contract specifications
- Review daily reports, timecards, production logs, and project documentation
- Prepare project updates, forecasts, and status reports
- Identify opportunities to improve project performance and operational efficiency
General Responsibilities
- Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborate effectively with field and office teams
- Travel to project sites as needed (up to 50%)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- 3–5 years of construction project management experience
- Experience with underground utilities, trenchless rehabilitation, or heavy civil construction preferred
Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience with budgeting, job costing, scheduling, and resource planning
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; NetSuite or project management software experience is a plus
- Ability to read construction plans and specifications
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Safety-focused with experience working in field environments
- Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities
