Senior staff accountant

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Staff Accountant based in India.

Join a high-impact finance team supporting the growth and scalability of multiple software businesses within a fast-moving, technology-driven environment. In this remote role, you will help establish and optimize accounting processes that enable accurate reporting, stronger financial decision-making, and operational excellence. You will take ownership of complex accounting activities, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to building scalable financial infrastructure. This opportunity is ideal for an accounting professional with strong U.S. GAAP expertise, SaaS experience, and a passion for process improvement. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior team members, drive automation initiatives, and influence how financial operations evolve across a growing platform.

Accountabilities
  • Manage the complete month-end close process, including revenue recognition, deferred revenue, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting activities under U.S. GAAP standards.
  • Analyze balance sheet accounts and provide detailed explanations for significant variances, connecting financial results to underlying operational drivers.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and budget variance analysis to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with FP&A teams to support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities while considering accrual and working capital impacts.
  • Prepare and review financial statements independently while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of reporting requirements.
  • Mentor Staff Accountants by providing guidance on complex accounting entries, reconciliation practices, and U.S. GAAP accounting decisions.
  • Identify accounting process inefficiencies, develop improvement initiatives, document expected ROI, and implement solutions that enhance team productivity.
  • Support the development of scalable accounting processes and controls across multiple business operations.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP principles with hands-on experience in SaaS accounting, including ASC 606 revenue recognition and deferred revenue management.
  • Proven experience independently managing month-end close processes and preparing complete financial statements.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling, Power Query, VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, and scenario analysis.
  • Experience working with modern ERP platforms such as Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or similar financial systems.
  • Strong analytical and variance analysis skills with the ability to translate financial data into clear business insights for non-finance stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify operational inefficiencies and implement measurable process improvements.
  • Experience mentoring junior accounting professionals and supporting their technical development.
  • Strong attention to detail, ownership mindset, and commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Ability to challenge existing processes, communicate recommendations effectively, and collaborate with leadership teams.
  • Preferred qualifications include CA certification with 2–3+ years of progressive accounting experience in private equity-backed environments, CMA certification with 5+ years of experience, or exposure to multi-entity portfolio accounting.
Benefits
  • Competitive monthly compensation of 21,000.
  • Fully remote position based in India.
  • Opportunity to build and improve accounting infrastructure for a growing software-focused platform.
  • Exposure to complex SaaS accounting operations and strategic financial initiatives.
  • Opportunity to work with experienced professionals across finance and business operations.
  • Career growth opportunities through ownership of impactful projects and process improvements.
  • Benefits package to be determined based on company policies.
