Pay: $18.50/hour (final rate based on experience)
About Saint Mary's Behavioral Health CenterSaint Mary's Behavioral Health Center (SMBHC), LLC is an evidence-based, client-centered residential treatment program serving adolescents ages 11–17, and up to 19 years of age. Our clients may present with a wide range of behavioral health needs, including self-harm, aggression, suicidal ideation, substance use, trauma, mood instability, depression, and anxiety.
We provide care in a warm, structured environment that meets clients where they are and supports them in becoming "the great person they were always meant to be." We are seeking a dependable Part-Time Cook who enjoys preparing nutritious meals in a mission-driven environment and understands the important role food plays in the healing and recovery process.
Position OverviewThe Part-Time Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals for residential clients while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen. Working under the supervision of the Head Chef, this role helps ensure meals are prepared on schedule and in accordance with health, safety, and dietary standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & Service- Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus and dietary guidelines.
- Accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and meal modifications as directed.
- Assist with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack preparation.
- Ensure meals are served in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain quality, consistency, and proper portion control.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
- Monitor and document food, refrigerator, and freezer temperatures.
- Properly store food and rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed.
- Report maintenance or equipment concerns promptly.
- Work collaboratively with the Head Chef and treatment team.
- Maintain professionalism and appropriate boundaries with adolescent clients.
- Follow all facility policies, state regulations, and health department requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in food service, commercial kitchens, healthcare, or residential settings preferred.
- Food Handler's Certification preferred (or ability to obtain after hire).
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
