Title: Health and Safety Specialist
Reports to: Health, Safety & Environmental Manager
Based at: Mucci Pac Ltd., Kingsville, ON
Date Revised: June 2, 2026
Type of Employment: Full-Time, permanent, 5-days a week; and some additional hours depending on workload and priorities. Which may include Saturdays.
Position Summary:
The Health and Safety Specialist at Mucci Pac Ltd. plays a critical role in fostering and maintaining a safe, compliant, and proactive work environment across all facilities, greenhouses, packing operations and bunkhouses. Based on site in Kingsville, Ontario, this position is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving health and safety programs that align with regulatory requirements and organizational goals. The specialist works closely with employees and leadership to identify risks, drive corrective actions, and promote a strong safety culture rooted in accountability and awareness.
Through regular inspections, audits, training initiatives, and incident investigations, the Health and Safety Specialist ensures that hazards are effectively managed and that safety performance is continuously enhanced. This role requires a hands-on approach in the office, production settings, and greenhouses along with strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate is a proactive and detail-oriented professional who is committed to protecting employee well-being and supporting operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and organizational objectives
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, workplace inspections, and safety audits to proactively identify hazards and ensure compliance across all operations
- Evaluate workplace conditions and employee practices to detect unsafe behaviors or exposures and implement effective corrective actions
- Monitor, analyze, and report on safety performance metrics and key indicators to drive continuous improvement and strengthen overall safety culture
- Lead incident investigations, including injuries, near-misses, and property damage incidents, to identify root causes and recommend corrective and preventative actions
- Prepare clear, detailed, and accurate documentation, including incident reports, inspection findings, and corrective action tracking
- Design, coordinate, and deliver engaging training programs (e.g., onboarding, refresher training, and task-specific safety training) to ensure employee competency and awareness
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2–3 years of progressive experience in a health and safety role
- Train-the-Trainer certification (e.g., Forklift, Aerial Work Platform) is required
- First Aid / CPR certification is required
- Demonstrated experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, compliance management, and safety program implementation
- Regular presence in both office and production/operational environments
- Occasional travel to various facilities or sites including the U.S. may be required
- May require flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends to support operations, incident response, or training activities
Physical Abilities:
- Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs.
- Must be able to lift material regularly up to 14 kg / 30 lbs; and occasionally up to 23 kg / 50lbs
- Able to climb stairs and stand on feet for an extended period of time.
- Work in a temperature-controlled environment of approximately 13 ˚C / 55 ˚F to 27 ˚C to 88 ˚F
Compensation: 50-60K, benefits, PTO, RSP matching, onsite parking, other company perks
