The Role
GrizzlyTrek is seeking one Oil and Gas Operator (Summer Student) to join our valued client's team at an oil blending facility in Grande Prairie Alberta. This is a full-time summer term position running approximately two to three months, Monday to Friday, and is an excellent opportunity to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in the energy sector.
This role is ideally suited to students who are continuing their education in the fall, whether in a trades program such as fourth-class power engineering or an academic field. You will work alongside experienced operators, build practical skills, and gain exposure to real plant operations that support your long-term career path.
What You'll Do
  • Support day-to-day operations at the oil blending facility under the direction of experienced operators
  • Assist with monitoring blending processes, equipment, and product quality
  • Perform routine equipment checks, gauge readings, and basic product sampling
  • Help with the transfer, loading, and handling of product as directed
  • Record operational data and complete shift logs and documentation
  • Follow all site safety procedures, permits, and standard operating procedures
  • Assist with general housekeeping and upkeep of the work area
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and on-the-job training
What You Bring
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program and returning to studies in fall 2026
  • Genuine interest in the energy sector and a strong willingness to learn
  • Reliable and punctual, with the ability to commit to the full summer term
  • Able to follow safety procedures and direction from supervisors
  • Comfortable working in an industrial facility setting
  • Physically capable of performing the duties of the role, including standing, lifting, and working outdoors as required
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
  • Pursuing or planning to pursue fourth-class power engineering certification
  • Studies in a trades, science, or related technical field
  • Valid driver's license
  • Safety certifications such as H2S Alive or Standard First Aid (an asset, not required)

  • Strict adherence to safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
