Job Description

GP Motor Company is a used-vehicle dealership focused on keeping a strong, well-maintained inventory available for our customers. Our operation depends on vehicles moving efficiently through inspection, reconditioning, detailing, photography, and ultimately onto the lot and online for sale.

We are looking for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced automotive environment.

About the role

The Inventory & Imaging Lot Technician is a full-time hybrid position combining traditional Lot Technician responsibilities with vehicle photography, inventory management, and quality control.

This role plays an important part in getting vehicles sale-ready. You will help move vehicles through our reconditioning process, photograph completed vehicles for online listings, maintain accurate vehicle statuses in Rapid Recon, and work with our service, detail, inventory, and sales teams to keep inventory moving efficiently.

This is a hands-on position for someone who can work independently, stay on top of multiple vehicles at different stages of the process, and take ownership of getting vehicles ready for sale.

What you'll do

  • Move, organize, stage, and park vehicles throughout dealership locations.
  • Transport vehicles between dealership locations, outside vendors, and third-party service providers.
  • Help maintain clean, organized, and professional dealership lots.
  • Assist with vehicle intake, fuel management, and general inventory flow.
  • Photograph vehicles for online inventory listings.
  • Complete standard vehicle photo sets efficiently, with a general expectation of approximately 5–10 minutes per vehicle. Additional time may be needed for trucks, larger vehicles, or vehicles photographed outdoors.
  • Review vehicle photos for clarity, consistency, completeness, and overall presentation before they are published.
  • Identify minor presentation issues that should be corrected before photography to reduce unnecessary re-photography.
  • Perform final quality-control checks on vehicle condition and repair orders to help confirm identified issues have been addressed before vehicles are presented for sale.
  • Use Rapid Recon to accurately update vehicles and move them through each stage of the reconditioning process.
  • Coordinate with dealership detail staff to ensure vehicles are available and transported for detailing as needed.
  • Work with third-party detailing vendors to maintain an efficient flow of completed vehicles.
  • Monitor inventory to help ensure vehicles are photographed, listed online, and available for sale as quickly as possible.
  • Communicate vehicle delays, condition concerns, missing work, or other issues that could affect inventory readiness.
  • Assist the Service, Detail, Inventory, and Sales departments as needed.
  • Follow dealership safety procedures and vehicle-handling requirements.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Comfortable driving and maneuvering a variety of vehicles.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when inspecting and photographing vehicles.
  • Comfortable using smartphones, computers, and inventory-management software.
  • Ability to learn and consistently use Rapid Recon and dealership processes.
  • Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with multiple departments.
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to work with a sense of urgency.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to recognize when a vehicle does not meet dealership presentation or readiness standards.
  • Automotive, dealership, lot technician, detailing, inventory, or vehicle photography experience is preferred but not required.

Schedule & Work Environment

This is a full-time, non-exempt position within GP Motor Company's Service Department. The position involves working both indoors and outdoors and requires regular movement throughout dealership lots and service areas.

Employees should be comfortable working outside in varying Utah weather conditions and performing a physically active job that includes frequent walking, entering and exiting vehicles, and moving vehicles throughout the dealership.

Compensation

  • Full-time employment
  • Hourly, non-exempt position
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance for eligible employees
  • 401(k)
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) in accordance with Company policy
  • Additional benefits based on eligibility and applicable plan terms
