Position Summary: The Production/Supply Chain Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining production and inventory plans that align supply with demand across the organization. This role analyzes demand forecasts, monitors inventory levels, and coordinates with procurement, manufacturing, warehouse, and logistics teams to ensure materials and finished goods are available to meet customer and operational needs. The Planner plays a key role in optimizing inventory investment, minimizing stockouts and excess inventory, and supporting on-time delivery performance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and adjust production and/or supply chain plans based on demand forecasts, sales trends, and inventory targets
- Analyze inventory levels and material requirements to prevent stockouts, overstock, and production delays
- Coordinate with procurement, manufacturing, warehouse, and logistics teams to align supply with production schedules and customer demand
- Monitor key performance indicators (e.g., fill rate, inventory turns, on-time delivery) and recommend process improvements
- Prepare and communicate production and inventory reports, forecasts, and schedule changes to relevant stakeholders
- Identify and resolve supply chain constraints, material shortages, and scheduling conflicts in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate data in ERP/planning systems, including bills of materials, lead times, and safety stock levels
- Support new product introductions, promotions, and seasonal demand planning initiatives
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to manage lead times and mitigate supply chain risks
- Perform other planning and analytical duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in production planning, supply chain, materials management, or a related field
- Working knowledge of inventory management, demand forecasting, and production scheduling principles
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) or equivalent supply chain credential
- Experience with common ERP planning systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas) or experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau)
- Prior experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or warehouse environment
- Bilingual communication skills
