Job Description

Overview
Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

As a Robotic Welding Operator with Quality Electrical Systems (QES), you will run and monitor robotic welding cells to fabricate structural weldments safely and efficiently. You will load fixtures, run established programs, inspect and repair welds, and keep production flowing while minimizing robot idle time. This role communicates regularly with programmers, supervisors, and teammates on job status and quality issues, and requires a solid understanding of safety protocols for industrial robots. On-the-job training is provided, and operators who take initiative and keep improving will have the opportunity to advance into operator lead, technician, or programmer roles.
___________________________________________________________________Key Responsibilities
• Load and unload parts in robotic welding cells and fixtures quickly and accurately.
• Select and run the correct programs from the teach pendant, clear simple faults, and restart cycles as directed.
• Jog the robot for contact tip and wire changes, and perform changeovers based on production needs.
• Read and interpret shop prints, weld symbols, WPS documents, and production travelers to ensure parts are made within tolerance.
• Inspect in-process and finished parts, repair, and clean up weldments as necessary.
• Meet or exceed daily production rates while minimizing robot idle time and maintaining quality standards.
• Perform basic consumable maintenance on robotic equipment, including changing contact tips, nozzles, and other components as needed.
• Monitor production and material supplies, and notify the appropriate personnel before shortages occur.
• Immediately report machine malfunctions, weld quality problems, nonconforming material, or safety concerns to programmers and supervisors.
• Use overhead cranes and forklifts to move weldments, fixtures, materials, and finished parts between stations.
• Follow OSHA and company safety standards, including robot cell safety protocols, and keep the work area clean, safe, and organized.
• Participate in ongoing training and perform other related shop duties or work at other stations as needed to meet production goals.

Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least six months of welding experience, preferably including robotic welding experience.
• Solid foundation in welding principles (GMAW preferred) and the ability to pass a weld test, including a 1G GMAW-P weld test.
• Ability to read shop prints, technical drawings, weld symbols, and weld specifications.
• General metal fabrication skills, including grinding, cutting, bending, and drilling.
• Basic computer skills, basic reading and written comprehension, and simple shop math.
• Comfortable using shop equipment such as welding machines, overhead cranes, lifting devices, forklifts, and able to become certified in each when required.
• Able to stand for long periods, perform repetitive tasks, and frequently bend, stoop, twist, and reach; must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. without mechanical assistance.
• Able to work in a typical welding and fabrication shop environment with welding fumes, moderate noise, moving equipment, etc.
• Available to work overtime when needed.

Preferred Skills
• Two (2) or more years of robotic welding experience, especially with Fanuc robotic systems.
• Training in operating or programming Fanuc robots.
• Pulsed GMAW welding experience.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards in manufacturing environments.
• Strong attention to detail and quality, with the ability to recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong.
• Self-motivated and adaptable; able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Clear, professional communication, active listening, and a positive attitude.
• Interest in growing into a robot operator lead, robot technician, or robot programmer roles.
