Job Description

About Astatine

Astatine is an Irish energy company focused on developing and delivering the infrastructure needed to accelerate the transition to a lower-carbon future. Founded by an experienced management team with a strong track record across business, technology and energy, we develop, acquire, design, construct, finance, operate and maintain energy assets across multiple technologies, including solar PV, wind, battery energy storage and heat pumps.

We’re operating in a rapidly evolving sector with significant opportunities for growth and innovation. At Astatine, you’ll have the opportunity to work on projects that are shaping the future of energy, while building your expertise in a dynamic and commercially driven environment.

Our values of collaboration, innovation, urgency, integrity and excellence guide how we work, make decisions and build our business.

About the role

This is an opportunity to move beyond a purely advisory role and become a valued partner to the teams delivering our renewable energy projects. You’ll gain exposure to a broad range of legal and commercial matters across the full project lifecycle, from land acquisition and development through to construction, financing and operations.

Working alongside colleagues across Development, Commercial, Engineering and Finance, you’ll help structure deals, negotiate key agreements, manage risk and find practical solutions that keep projects moving forward.

You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of your work, develop your commercial judgement and build expertise across real estate, construction, energy and project finance. For the right person, this is a chance to develop into a well-rounded in-house lawyer while contributing directly to the growth of a business at the centre of the energy transition.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your work will be varied, hands-on and closely connected to the delivery of our projects. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting project development: Drafting, reviewing and negotiating land agreements, leases, easements, wayleaves and other project origination and development documentation.
  • Enabling site acquisition: Supporting title reviews, due diligence and site assembly for renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Working across the project lifecycle: Advising on legal aspects of planning, permitting and grid connection, coordinating with external advisers where needed.
  • Getting involved in transactions: Supporting project finance, corporate funding, investor documentation, due diligence and M&A activity.
  • Providing practical legal advice: Helping colleagues navigate contractual, regulatory, governance and risk issues with clear, commercially balanced recommendations.
  • Improving how we work: Developing and refining legal templates, processes and ways of working, while managing external legal advisers effectively.

As part of a growing business, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute beyond a narrowly defined area of law, build relationships across the organisation and see the direct impact of your work.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone with a strong legal foundation, a practical mindset and the curiosity to develop their expertise in a growing industry.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Qualification as a solicitor in Ireland, or an equivalent recognised qualification, with approximately 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Experience gained in a respected private practice firm and/or an in-house legal team.
  • Experience in real estate, commercial contracts, construction or project finance, with an interest in developing broader expertise across these areas.
  • Strong drafting, reviewing and negotiation skills, with the confidence to work through complex issues and communicate advice clearly.
  • Some exposure to corporate transactions, fundraising, debt financing or M&A.
  • An interest in renewable energy, infrastructure and the commercial opportunities created by the energy transition.

Experience with planning, land and property matters, or grid connection arrangements, would be an advantage.

You’ll be commercially curious, solutions-focused and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment. You’ll know when to dig into the detail, when to take a pragmatic approach and when to seek specialist input. You’ll enjoy working collaboratively, building relationships and taking ownership of your work.

You don’t need to have worked exclusively in renewables. We’re interested in people who can bring relevant legal experience, sound judgement and a genuine appetite to learn.

Why Join Astatine?

Make an impact. Work on real projects that contribute to the energy transition and help shape the infrastructure of the future.

Broaden your experience. Gain exposure to a diverse mix of legal matters, technologies and commercial transactions across the full lifecycle of energy projects.

Work closely with senior leadership. Partner directly with our Chief Legal Officer and collaborate with colleagues across the business, gaining insight into the commercial decisions behind the legal work.

Take ownership and grow. Develop your independence, commercial judgement and technical expertise in an environment where you can make a meaningful contribution.

Be part of a growing business. Join a collaborative team where innovation, integrity, urgency and excellence are central to how we work.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, alongside opportunities for continued learning and professional development as Astatine grows.

Interested?

If you’re ready to broaden your legal experience, build your commercial capability and play a meaningful role in the energy transition, we’d love to hear from you. Please apply with your CV and cover letter. For further information please visit www. Astatine.ie or contact Careers@astatine.ie. No recruiters, please.
